We love all of the amazing independent designers out there. In order to find out more about just what makes all of these creative types tick, we present to you an ongoing segment called Indie Designer Interviews.

Today's interview is with Kate Garey, a designer, artist and crafter based in the UK. If you like quirky and cute, silly and girly, you'll love Kate's handmade purses, wallets and cosmetics cases.

Tell us a little about yourself and your work. I'm fun, free and frisky! I like to take my inspirations from quirky, odd objects and notions. I love Japanese Kawaii cuteness, Kitsch prints like polka dots and gingham, childhood fairytales and food, then mix them all together to create adorable fun designs. I want my work to put a smile on peoples faces and brighten up their day.

How did you get started as a designer? I was actually working on another online shop and I was always so in awe of all the stock I'd get in. I used to daydream about designing my own line of bags and accessories. October last year I kept getting ideas and drawing loads and loads of pictures that I thought would look cute on bags and things. So I took the plunge and started working on it, and by May this year my little online boutique was open for business.

Who are your favorite designers? Gemma Correll has some cute little nic nacs. Made with Love by Hannah has some beautiful printed skirts and Marmee Craft does some lovely art, so odd and wonderful.

What are your top fashion & beauty must-haves? At the moment I love the high waisted skirts and 50s inspired fashion; it's so feminine. I also really love organic beauty products, my fave is Liz Earls hot polish cleanser.
