We don't usually pick advertisements for our Quick Picks submissions, but we thought this one was just too ironic to pass up. Just before David Duchovny checked himself into rehab for sex addiction, he became the celebrity spokesmodel for luggage and accessories designers Johnston & Murphy.
In light of the current buzz about Duchovny's addiction, we have to wonder if Johnson & Murphy might have gone with a different celebrity. Don't get us wrong, we think Duchovny looks great in the ad. We like the pea coat, the scarf, they did good work on this spread.
It's just that with the timing of this campaign, seeing David Duchovny's mug staring seductively at you with his luggae and stubble sends a different message than it was intended. In fact, it's kinda creepin us out. One doesn't check into sex rehab unless they have a pretty serious problem.
