Style Lies: If you have halitosis, you're stuck with it
Don't let that person be you! It is possible to rid yourself of seemingly unfixable halitosis.
1. Don't let your tongue become a dirty carpet. – As Stephen Z. Wolner, a dentist in private practice in New York City says, "Your tongue microscopically is like a shaggy carpet. There are millions of filaments on your tongue that trap tiny food particles and bacteria." Make scraping or brushing your tongue a daily habit.
2. Chew gum like it's going out of style. – Gum produces saliva and saliva helps wash away food and bacteria. The ingredients in cinnamon flavored gums don't just mask odor, they decrease the bacteria. Choose sugar free cinnamon.
3. Drink more water. – Again with the flushing and removal of bacteria and food. Plus it's good just good for you!
4. Rule our rare causes for bad breath. – Sometimes a gum disease or decay can lead to bad breath. See your dentist every six months or anytime odor persists.
5. Get a water pick. - "Using an irrigator or water pick cleans everything out around and under your gums and between your teeth," says Wolner. "If food lingers between your teeth where a toothbrush doesn't reach, it's fermenting."
