Old Loves and New Infatuations: Sebastian Potion 9
We're pretty sure some of you are sister-fans of Sebastian Potion 9 (which we still refer to as Potion #9, but corrected in this post so we don't look dumb.) Remember the sticky, gluey consistency, that was so hard to get off your hands? The orange color? The way you could use in on wet or dry hair, and how it was the one product you could count on to give your Rachel-do the perfect mixture of smoothness with body?
Oh, those were some good times. But inexplicably, we were lured away from our reliable Potion 9 by the novel temptations of Pureology and Bumble and bumble.
We'd forgotten just how good Potion 9 was, until a box of review samples for the New Sebastian Professional line arrived.
We were tempted to wash our hair in the middle of the day, just so we could try out all of the cool products. We resisted, but the next morning we actually hurried into the shower because we were so excited to have Sebastian hair day.
The shampoo and light conditioner left our hair shiny and salon-scented, and ready for styling. Then we lined up the products.
Everything in the Sebastian Pro line smells great. The packaging is sleek and ergo, and they look pretty on the vanity table. Whipped Creme, which actually does come out of the can looking like whipped cream, was tempting, like mousse, but better. Also exciting was the new, Potion 9 Light, a spray which we used the following day and totally use all the time now. But on that first day, it was all about our old love, Potion 9.
The bottle is new and easier to use, but the product itself is just as perfect as we remembered. Not gel. Not mousse. Not thickening spray or prep. But it does the job of all of these things. They call it a "treatment" but to us it will always be what we mean when we say, "You need to use some product in your hair."
So yeah, we're back together with Potion 9. Thank you, Sebastian for reuniting us. It's a true love story.
