Housekeepers rob the Beckhams, hock their loot on Ebay

10/16/2008 4:00PM by Josh Loposer

Tough luck bidders, police in the UK are putting a stop to what could be some of the hottest deals on stolen celebrity memorabilia we'll ever see. According to Daily Mail, a couple of sneaky housekeepers at the Beckhams' mansion in Hertfordshire were making off with some of the couple's clothing and trinkets and trying to pawn them off on Ebay -- like no one was going to notice.

The insidious crime ring was reportedly broken up by the detective work of none other than Victoria's mother and father (who apparently like to browse the auctions on Ebay?). After finding the familiar items online, Victoria's parents went out to the estate, discovered that the stuff was missing and called the cops. Apparently the items were actually being advertised as real-deal, pedigreed Beckham items, don't ask how we got it.

Look, we realize that when you take care of the Beckhams' estate, it's got to be really tempting to let a string of pearls or two fall into your mop bucket and forget to take them out. And then to accidentally take them home with you. And then to accidentally kinda sell them on the black market. You know they can replace it. The part of the plan that really broke down here is trying to sell it on Ebay. Really, how stupid do you have to be?
