After hearing endless rave reviews about Urban Decay's Primer Potion, we were a wee bit skeptical. The Potion, which one would apply to eyelids as a foundation layer, promises to make eye make-up more vibrant, longer lasting, and un-crease-able (that's a word now, by the way). Could this tiny little wand and strange, beige liquid really keep make-up on our eyes longer than usual? As it turns out, yeah. Yeah, it totally can. And we think we're in love.
For $16, it may seem like a bit much for such a small product, but note that using it means fewer re-applications of other cosmetics. Also, poke around YouTube for some super-interesting tips on how to get the most out of this product (this one is quite useful). Apparently, the odd shape of the container means that even when you think you're all out of Potion, there may be some hiding in those curves. Now, that $16 doesn't sound quite so bad, does it?
We found that the best way to get long-lasting eye make-up was to first apply the Primer Potion, then a layer of long-wear eyeliner (Urban Decay's 24/7 Glide-On Pencils are remarkably nice), followed by a final application of a powdered eyeshadow to set everything in place. Perhaps a gentle touch-up will still be needed for cleaner looks, but for anyone that's into the smoky, slightly smudgier feel, this is absolutely perfect.
