Diamonds worn by drug dealers go up for auction

11/13/2008 12:01PM by Lindsay Miller

When a drug dealer gets busted, he loses everything. Including his $21,000 gold and diamond-studded gorilla pendant. So, if you're in the market for jewelry that didn't make it into jail along with its owners, it's your lucky day. At an auction in Raleigh, North Carolina this Thursday, a range of confiscated bling will go on sale.

It's been nine years since the last auction of this kind, and since then, the North Carolina Department of Revenue has been stockpiling quite the luxe collection: Cartier watches among them. Check out the full list of items here.

Our favorite, for sheer entertainment value, has to be the gold ring that says "Mom" on it. We'd love to know the story behind that bust.
