Obama supports your right to wear saggy pants - Regime change

This year, we've run across multiple stories about men getting ticketed -- or in some cases, arrested -- for wearing saggy pants under Florida's saggy pants ordinances. Needless to say, we stand opposed to any attempts to legislate fashion, no matter how stupid or ugly it looks. So, it's nice to find out that President-elect Obama shares our views and doesn't plan to create a 'Department of Homeland Fashion Police' or anything like that. Phew.

According to the 44th President, these ridiculous saggy ordinances are a serious waste of time. Right on. Does anyone remember how stupid dress codes were back in high school? I seem to remember there being a continuous battle raging around how long your hair could be, or how short skirts could be. In fact, a case in our high school was taken up by the ACLU.

Michelle Obama Inauguration Predictions

If expectations are high for Barack Obama, they're no less soaring for his wife -- at least in a sartorial sense. After two decades of Bush and Clinton women -- for whom style was not a sixth sense -- the inarguably fashionable and seemingly fearless Michelle Obama has trend-watchers in a frenzy. Tall and taut, with the broad shoulders and self-confidence to carry off whatever she wants, Obama has spent the past 21 months being compared to Jacqueline Kennedy. And, so far, Obama has acquitted herself well, showing off recession-friendly dresses from White House/ Black Market and pricey styles from edgy designers like Isabel Toledo, who she wore (left) last spring to a fundraiser with fashion industry heavyweights. What will she favor for the White House? StyleList takes a look at her past -- and offers some predictions for the future. And for those who think clothes don't matter, remember the words of JFK as he introduced his wildly popular wife at a 1961 State Dinner at Charles de Gaulle's presidential palace. "I am the man," Kennedy said, "who accompanied Jacqueline Kennedy to Paris."

She hasn't even gotten to the White House, but Michelle Obama has already done more than any fashion mag to make Thakoon a household name. The Thai-born designer's dresses were perfect for several major moments on the campaign trail, including (at left) the final night of the Democratic National Convention. At right, the rose-colored silk dress as it appeared on Thakoon's runway. Mrs. Obama seems to have made no changes to it -- except the addition of three her trademark pins to the neckline. (And for those who can't afford Thakoon's four-figure price tags, the designer debuts a more recession-friendly collection at Target in December.)

    PAUL J. RICHARDS/AFP/Getty Image

No, we don't expect the new First Lady to parade her abs at the Easter egg roll. But with just a few strategically placed swaths of fabric, this delicate floral sheath by Thakoon could meet the needs of the most demanding East Wing schedule.

    Chris Moore/Catwalking/Getty Images

Back in 1982, when Nancy Reagan wore rhinestone-trimmed knickers to a dinner at the American Embassy in Paris, she was ridiculed across two continents. So it's no surprise that Michelle Obama decided to keep her thighs safely away from the runway version of Moschino's flowered silk shorts (right). What's a First Lady-wannabe to do? Moschino took the same gray-and-purple fabric and used it to bare Mrs. O's knee's in a more Donna Reed way -- a soft shirtwaist that made her look both comfortable and camera-ready for the debut of the Obama-Biden ticket in Springfield, Ill. last summer. Surely, Nancy would have approved.

    Karl Prouse/Catwalking/Getty Images

This purple silk coat and carnival-striped dress from Moschino's spring collection strikes the perfect balance between the White House need to look sophisticated and Mrs. Obama's penchant to shake-it-up.

    Catwalking/Getty Images

If fashion tells a story, Michelle Obama's fiery red confetti-printed dress conveyed every bit of her Election Night euphoria. True, the Narciso Rodriguez sheath, modified from the runway version at right, earned as many barbs as raves -- "Maybe it looked really awesome up close?" one fashion wag asked. But you won't find a trace of disappointment on Obama's face, which glowed as brightly as her $10,275 Loree Rodkin diamond earrings.

    Joe Raedle, Getty Images

Narcisco Rodriguez's edgy black-and-white dress would be techy enough for the You Tube generation and graphic enough for those Dinosaur Age readers of print media.

    Chris Moore/Catwalking/Getty Images

Tall and toned, Mrs. Obama isn't afraid to experiment. She plays with color (usually favoring brights) and shape (usually body-hugging) -- and, just when you think you've figured out her fashion maxims, she veers in another direction. The cantaloupe-colored Moschino dress that she wore to her husband's acceptance of the Harold Washington Award this fall was a softer color and silhouette than her typical fare.

    Chris Moore/Catwalking/Getty Images

Hillary Clinton made front-page news in 1993, when she co-hosted the Governors' Dinner at the White House in Donna Karan's "cold-shoulder" dress, a dramatic long-sleeved black sheath with -- surpise! -- the shoulders cut out. We're not sure the world is ready for a First Lady in a cut-out torso, but with a bit of fabric in all the right places, Narciso Rodriguez's 'bondage" gown would be a fierce addition to Mrs. Obama's don't-mess-with-me repertoire.

    Chris Moore/Catwalking/Getty Images

Peter Soronen's fashions are fun, flirty, and fit for a woman confident enough to show off her curves. Small wonder he's earned red-carpet time from the likes of Sarah Jessica Parker, Jennifer Hudson and Tina Fey. He's also added Michelle Obama to his roster. At left, her white delicately-patterned dress is adapted from Soronen's houndstooth check sheath.

    Peter Soronen

Just imagine how screwed up it would be to have cops out on the streets cracking down on dress code violations. It would look something like this, because it's already happening in Riviera Beach, Florida. Here's what Mr. Obama had to say about the matter:
"Here is my attitude: I think people passing a law against people wearing sagging pants is a waste of time. We should be focused on creating jobs, improving our schools, health care, dealing with the war in Iraq, and anybody, any public official, that is worrying about sagging pants probably needs to spend some time focusing on real problems out there. Having said that, brothers should pull up their pants. You are walking by your mother, your grandmother, your underwear is showing. What's wrong with that? Come on. There are some issues that we face, that you don't have to pass a law, but that doesn't mean folks can't have some sense and some respect for other people and, you know, some people might not want to see your underwear - I'm one of them."

Obama is absolutely right. I have a feeling this man is going to do a good job in the White House. He's young, intelligent, sensible, and a family man. (Who cares what color he is or isn't).

This is the law: Under the new law, anyone with droopy pants that show skin or underwear faces legal action. The first offense carries a $150 fine or community service. A second infraction carries a $300 fine or more community service.

It is also known as indecent exposure, this is not about fashion it is about exposing your body or underwear in public and although I agree we should not need a law for something so obvious I don't want to see this in public. Where is the respect, where is the common decency? How much low life criminal activity is acceptable? How about a President that supports morals? This law is just a facet of an already existing law for indecent exposure and I for one agree with it. Keep you pants on in public. What you do indoors is your business.

I'm not giving an opinion on this, but asking if this law is equally enforced on women with bras or decoletage' exposed or partially hanging out? Can you enforce one without the other and not risk being accused of discrimination?

Obama has yet again side-tracked genuine issues with this bogus nonsense of dress codes.

Why isn't he addressing serious issues of national defense, and the reasons Liberals allowed the mortgage crisis to occur just in time to blame Republicans in an election year?

The Wall Street problem began in America. If that crisis was engineered [ as was the mortgage crisis ] it has gotten out of control and become a world-wide problem.

The following is from an email.

Presidential Election Barak H. Obama
Clear and Present Danger

Photo here [ ].

DNC did not take seriously the possibility of Obama becoming president until he defeated Hillary Clinton in the primary election, and accordingly neglected to verify whether or not he is a native born American.

It has been reported that Obama's mother was too pregnant to fly to Hawaii, and that Obama was born in Kenya. If Obama was born in Kenya and the DNC was aware of this -- then the presidential election was a product of fraud and should be thrown out.

Barak Hussein Obama continues to refuse to produce his birth certificate.

Conspiracy to Steal Presidential Election
Rises to the Level of Treason

Photo from cover of JR Corsi book - "The Obama Nation"

Millions of dollars in illegal - non-traceable throw-away prepaid credit card contributions from [ anti-American / anti-Jewish ] foreign sources have been contributed to Obama's campaign fund.

Apply the same security clearance standards to Obama that are applied to the military and intelligence community. There is no option except to revoke his security clearance.

Senator Obama Live on Sunday September 7, 2008 "Meet the Press" states,

"As I've said about the flag pin, I don't want to be perceived as taking sides."

'There are a lot of people in the world to whom the American flag is a symbol of oppression."

"And the anthem itself conveys a war-like message. You know, the bombs bursting in air and all. It should be swapped for something less parochial and less bellicose."

"I like the song 'I'd Like To Teach the World To Sing.' If that were our anthem, then I might salute it."

"We should consider to reinvent our National Anthem as well as to redesign our Flag to better offer our enemies hope and love."

"It's my intention, if elected, to disarm America to the level of acceptance to our Middle East Brethren."

"If we as a nation of warring people, should conduct ourselves as the nations of Islam, whereas peace prevails, perhaps a state or period of mutual concord between our governments."

"When I become President, I will seek a pact or agreement end hostilities between those who have been at war or in a state of enmity, and a freedom from disquieting oppressive thoughts."

"We as a Nation have placed upon the nations of Islam an unfair injustice."

"My wife disrespects the Flag for many personal reasons."

"Together she and I have attended several flag burning ceremonies in the past, many years ago."

"She has her views and I have mine."

"Of course now, I have found myself about to become the President of the United States and I have put aside my hatred. I will use my power to bring CHANGE to this Nation, and offer the people a new path of hope."

"My wife and I look forward to becoming our Country's First Family."

"Indeed, CHANGE is about to overwhelm the United States of America."

From Dreams of My Father:

"I ceased to advertise my mothers race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites."

"I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mothers race."

"There was something about him that made me wary, a little too sure of himself, maybe. And white."

"It remained necessary to prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to the black *masses, to strike out and name names."

The communist phrase "masses" indicating indoctrination by Marxist Communist mentors including KGB [ in Cuba ] trained Bill Ayers.

"I never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn't speak to my own. It was into my father's image, the black man, son of Africa, that I'd packed all the attributes I sought in myself, the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, DuBois and Mandela."

And Finally -- The most damning one of all of them!

From the Audacity of Hope:

"I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction."

Obama Against Israel

Obama would support Iran, Syria, other terrorist sponsoring nations, and radical Islamic factions against Israel.

Election Fraud

Billions of tax dollars went into the Wall Street bailout. Liberal politicians wanted to give ACORN 20% of the 300 Billion dollars.

There is no financial excuse for the United States Congress not to fund adopting a universal ballot and voter identification system.

Dangerous as it was -- voting in Iraq was both fair and accurate. Voters risked their lives to cast their vote -- and through the ink on their fingers -- showing the world they had voted -- risked radical extremist retaliation -- amputation of their offending hand.

Democrat Philosophy, "Any election not worth stealing is an election not worth having."

Voter Fraud Solution Is Simple

Department of Homeland Security should be dealing with all matters concerning internal threats to the United States of America including all enemies foreign and "domestic" -- including internal threats through political parties stealing elections through fraud.

Stealing elections - state/federal during time of war should rise to the level of treason.

Any attempt by agents of political parties to overthrow individual state governments and/or the United States Government during time of war should rise to the level of treason.

All voting is conducted in person.

Bar-coded voter registration card appears similar to an ATM card. Voter registration card includes photo, date of birth, place of birth, blood type, current address, signature, and fingerprint.

Signature and fingerprint on ballot.

Ballot and bar-coded voter registration card are inserted into ballot counter slots -- linked to Homeland Security computer.

No signature -- No fingerprint -- No vote.

Every ballot is pre-screened through Department of Homeland Security computer database [ one vote must be one vote ].

Anyone objecting to fingerprint probably has something to hide -- and should not vote.

Election 2008 Attention Washington State!!

[ *** ] No non-metered, non-accountable "black bags" in polling stations [ cuts David Viafore's (D) Fircrest, John Ladenburg's (D) and Pat McCarthy's (D) Pierce County corrupt political machine election fraud out of the loop ].

Cleaning-Up / Not Covering-Up Political Corruption

Security clearances must be the same for civilian politicians, attorneys, prosecutors, judges, and police officers as for the military -- with the same strict guidelines for obtaining and retaining security clearances [ loss of security clearance --- often accompanied with prison sentence ].

Politicians, attorneys, prosecutors, judges, and police officers should fall under the same legal system as the military. The Uniform Code of Military Justice [ UCMJ ] is far more difficult to manipulate, and is far less forgiving than the civil law system.

Addendum [ From recent email ].

The contents of this email need to be seriously considered.

RNC played politics – did not want to offend black voters – assumed Obama was no threat – failed to perform a proper background check which would have prevented him from becoming a presidential candidate. The way you people botched this job – I could have run for president.

Since when is allowing unslightly baggy pants proof of his intelligence? But come to think about it, insuring that people who like baggy pants will insure them to be last in line for the high paying jobs and last in line for scholarships, etc.
Yes, maybe it is proof that he's intelligent-- it will insure that he remains the absolute top dog! You people still have employers, teachers, customers, etc to deal with and they will find a way to make sure that you sink to the bottom. Are you sure that's what you want??? You want socialism-- well, in socialist Europe, they use uniforms at school and employers have rather strict dress codes from what I could see after living there a year.

YES, when a guy's butt crack is staring us in the face, or junk we and our kids do NOT want to see is hanging out, toss 'em in jail, heck yeah. When these pathetic looking creatures curse our law enforcement officers to their faces and act "tough" is when they get into trouble, not by the awful horrible clothes they wear. Young good-looking men and they look so BAD! Is that cool? It's SAD! Aw, Honey, pull your pants up some! Ah, well..
Oh, Lisa, Honey, Obama will do whatever job the Senate and other governing bodies allows him to do, just like with President Bush. Pres really doesn't have a whole lotta power. President Bush is all you mentioned, except "young."

Boot, you speak using common sense and a level head....quite unusual, yet quite refreshing for these boards. You're so right as to the power of the President relative to the power of the Congress and Senate.
It will appear to most that Obama is doing a good job, but that won't be because he is doing a good job. The newly elected (if you call 2006 "new") Democratic Congress and Senate all but assured that Obama has nowhere to go but up by burying their heads in the sand since taking control of both houses in 2007.
It is absolutely frightening the way Democrats (and Obama) have blamed everything from the economy to gas prices to the MRSA epidemic on a lame duck President Bush, yet did not ONCE call upon the Democratically controlled Congress and Senate to step in to stop the bleeding.
These people were elected during the Midterm Elections in 2006, took office in January of 2007, and disappeared until Obama was elected. How quickly Democrats forgot all of the campaign promises these candidates made over 2 years ago to get elected.
Once elected, they allowed Americans to suffer, lose their jobs, their homes, and some their very lives just to ensure the country was in as bad a shape as possible come November 4th.
People CANNOT blame the country's woes on President Bush without calling to the mat the people they elected to the House of Representatives in 2006 and asking them why they allowed it to continue for 2 more years without making a move.
However, Americans are, for the most part, politically apathetic and politically ignorant with no concept of how our government really works and with whom the power truly lies.......it's a sad commentary on Americans as a whole.
I pray to God this man does a good job, even though I'm a republican....because unlike the Democrats in the House of Representatives, my love is for the people of this country and not for the power that comes with an elected office.

I think the sagging pants will phase out over time if we just let it. It only shows lack of good judgement on the part of the person choosing not to be polite and makes it easier to rule them out as good candidates for jobs and/or friends and simply, there's enough to worry without depicting a person's choice of style.

Have you ever gone into a detention class in our schools? I have and 99% of the kids in those classes had piercings, and baggy pants. Someone that does not respect themselves have no respect for others or the rules of society. Go to your local court and see how people dress and tell me that it doesn't have something to do with our crime rate. I lived and worked in IL and trust me lots of saggy pants and lots of crime check out the statistics online for yourself as opposed to areas who don't have saggy pants. Amaze yourselfs I dare you.

President Bush?... Sensible?... Intelligent?.... Ha! I may agree with a family man, but by no means is the man the sharpest tool in the shed. If focusing the majority of our military on Iraq because of evidence of WMD's while Bin Laden is still out there is sensible, then I must have a misguided understanding of the definition. DOn't give the man that much credit. Just my opinion though.
