Did Christina Aguilera ape Lady Gaga's look?

Many people--Perez Hilton among them--are questioning just how much Christina Aguilera's new look has been "inspired" by recording artist Lady Gaga. The long, blonde extensions with heavy bangs. The slinky, black catsuits. The masks. The mod, mod makeup.

In a brief interview with the Los Angeles Times this week, Aguilera laughed off a comparison to the hipster dance-music songstress, claiming that she'd never even heard of Ms. Gaga until people recently started asking whether she'd copied her style.

"This person [Lady Gaga] was just brought to my attention not too long ago. I'm not quite sure who this person is, to be honest. I don't know if it is a man or a woman."

We're not saying Christina is trying to appropriate Lady Gaga's look, but come on--you can't tell if someone who goes by the name LADY Gaga is a man or woman? We may have believed her had she simply said that Lady Gaga wasn't on her radar. After all, she remains a pretty underground phenomenon. But that comment's just a little disrespectful and dismissive of her fellow recording artist.

After the jump, check out our gallery of eerily-similar Lady Gaga and Christina Aguilera pictures and decide for yourself: simple coincidence or straight-up stealing?

I think it's totally cool if she rips the look... perhaps it's a way to pay tribute to a time she admires.

Rude rude rude. yea right! no one in her entourage of hundreds of people who work for her, her record label, her stylist, etc. saw that the two are almost identical? Lady Gaga's mv was mainstream in July with "just dance." X-tina revealed her ripped look in the fall... Man or Woman? Please, she is just jealous Lady Gaga looks good in a corset and not spilling out of it. somebody never overate for 2...

Xtina did what tons of commercial artists have done...rip off the ideas of truly unique artists out there!! the messed up part is that with more $ and face time she can easily plead ignorance.

I first heard Lady Gaga a couple months back and thought when her voice went high, she sounded a lot like Christina. Tonight, I just saw a Target commercial and totally thought it was Lady Gaga. But obviously, being that it was actually Christina, I hit the web to see if there were any comparisons. Turns out there is! Christina has a voice like no other, so I was a little shocked by the need to borrow so closely. But hey Madonna did some of that later on in her career (doesn't make it right), but also most of Lady Gaga's "look" is ALL borrowed--everything she does is in homage to some other group/band/artist - Queen, David Bowie, Motley Crue, AC/DC, Paris is Burning, and even Madonna. Lady Gaga isn't an original in creating content, but she is original in how she combines what she borrows. Much of her style is carryover from electroclash and very reminiscent of artists W.I.T. and Peaches...

Um - funny thing is, no one seems to think Lady Gaga (and I guess Christina) took the look from Gwen Stefani! Gwen had the whole long blond, bang look (albeit a wig) from her last album!

Exactly what I said the second I saw Christina performing her new song. My jaw dropped. I'd choose Lady Gaga over Christina any day, and I used to be a big Christina fan :) LADY GAGA WOOOOT!

Don't you think, it would be silly of Christina to copy Lady gaga and then pretend she has done nothing??? Her deal is sure to become public... So...

It is better stop thinking of those stupid things and simply enjoy her singing - http://rapid4me.com/?q=christina+aguilera

Christina changes her image all the time, it doesnt mean she is copying other people. is there a rule that states only one person can have a certain style at any one time and anyone else must just be copying?

OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe that little nasty Christina can take over Lady gaga's look and say. quote "I don't know who Lady gaga is. I don't even know if she's a man or a woman.
First of all Christina, it's obviouse that Lady gaga is a girl DUH! hint hint Christina it's the word LADY.
Second of all, everyone knows who Lady gaga is. Unless.... she has no sense of music. NO WONDER NO LISTENS TO HER MUSIC. SHE HAS A REALLY REALLY BAD TASTE OF MUSIC!!! AND NO WONDER LADY GAGA HAS A BETTER CAREER THAN HER. EVERYONE KNOW THAT DUH!!
She's just thinks that her little scheme can let it rest and not think it's a big deal. Most people think that what Christina said about "the look" was really rude.
Here's something for you Christina:
You should stop copying peoples look because your not gonna get anywhere with that. Go to ____ ( you can fill the blanks)
P.S I am and always will ge pissed off by this topic :X

I didn't even know who Lady Gaga was before she came out with that song, "Let's Dance." Which is a remake of an original. Like her look. And not even that great of a remake. One song she is famous by. ONE SONG! When you get up to the status that Christina has built for herself. Then we can discuss who stole who look. When Lady Gaga, who's career is nowhere near the status of Christina (The idiot, Karianne, above me said), becomes a household name and everyone knows her. We can discuss this issue seriously.

And besides that fact, I know drag queens, transexuals, and homosexual males who go by Lady. Simply put, a man can carry the title as Lady as well as Queen. These days, you can't judge straight off by names. Ever watch the televison show, America's Next Top Model? Mrs. J? By that name you would assume the person was a female. Nope, male.

Like someone said before, that shocking white blonde look was done by Gwen Stefani. The point is. Hollywood is not that creative. There are going to be people who are replica of each other, regardless if they did it on purpose or not.

Look at Ciara? Very much so Aaliyah.

Lady Gaga.. could actually be a drag act? Why not. It's possible. Anything's possible in this day and age.

I actually don't see much copied-resemblence to each other's looks. There is a difference be it minute to some or drastic to others.

I'm a fan of both performers. I think their styles are quite marginally different. I don't like how Lady Gaga is being advertised on posters as an amalgamation of Gwen, Christina and other singers because, in her own right, she's different from all of them! Inspired possibly, but not intentionally out to compete with them, right?

It just occurred to me that this argument could go on forever.. lol.
