VW Teams Up With Barneys for Limited Edition Cufflinks - Beetlemania
Looking for a gift for that nostalgic ex-hippie in your life? For decades now, VW has enjoyed a cult-like dedication from hippies, hipsters, and young urban professional types. To commemorate the car company's involvement in youth culture -- and rake in some extra holiday cash -- VW has teamed up with Barney's New York on Madison Ave to launch these sweet sterling silver cufflinks featuring the '67 Beetle.
The 'Summer of Love' cufflinks -- produced by Caroline Collection LTD -- also commemorate the 50th anniversary of the peace sign. And in contrast their theme of Peace and Love: Have a Hippie Holiday, these babies run for $550. Because nothing commemorates a classic economy car and a altruistic political movement better than high dollar cufflinks.
Still, we have to admit: if we could afford these "antiqued" cufflinks, we'd buy a pair. It's hard to find cufflinks that don't look overly douchey, and we always look for a way to let our freak flag fly, even in a business suit -- and, sadly, we have little or no love for those Jerry Garcia ties.
Thanks Tony for the tip.
