Wal-Mart Worker Killed by Black Friday Shoppers

ShoppersToday at Green Acres mall in Nassau County, New York, tragedy struck when a 34 year old Wal-Mart worker was killed by shoppers who physically broke down the doors and rushed the store.

Is it the financial crunch that makes people so excited to shop at Wal-Mart? This is insanity. The man who died was a part-time, temporary worker, just doing his job. Can you believe that shoppers were this voracious?

The man's sobbing co-workers asked the shoppers who essentially broke into the store to leave, and people just kept shopping.

"They're savages," said upset shopper/witness Kimberly Cribbs.

The worker was knocked down at 5:03 am, taken to a hospital, and pronounced dead a hour later at 6:03 am. The body will be examined for the exact cause of death, and the store has been closed.

Four other Wal-Mart shoppers were taken to the hospital from the same store, three for minor injuries and one pregnant woman for observation. Police are reviewing the surveillance camera tapes.

We find this totally disgusting. Control yourselves, Long Island. We send our condolences to his family and friends.

Amen to the commenter above. As a matter of fact, the news clip that I saw stated that the video was being reviewed and that possible criminal charges may be filed. I hope to God they do file charges. This is just sad and ridiculous.

Black Friday is the most maddening shopping day of the holiday season. Shoppers should be prepared to deal with heavy traffic and packed stores - which means more time on the road and less time to shop - more so during the afternoon and into the evening. This also means a lot of spending. Shopping on Black Friday is a holiday tradition for my sister and me. We wake up early, grab a latte from our local coffee shop, and head out to do battle with all the early bird shoppers. This year, things will be different. My sister and I are still going on our annual shopping spree, but I’m sure we’ll skip the latte and opt for a cup of homemade black coffee. Plus, instead of spending our money at fine department stores this year, we are going to have to stretch our dollars as far as possible because our budgets are much tighter. I think my sister and I are smart shoppers, and we’re dealing with the economy in the best way possible. We aren’t foregoing the annual Black Friday holiday shopping trip altogether because, for us, that trip is part of our holiday season. Instead, we’re embracing the quality time we get to spend together as family while being totally aware of how much we’re spending. In fact, this weekend, my sister and I are making sure we have everyone’s lists together and putting together a budget. Smart shopping and budgets should be a must for all Americans this holiday shopping season. I hope others get the opportunity to read the same smart shopping article I did. Smart shoppers have a budget and a plan. Smart shoppers also know that fast payday loans are used in emergency situations only—not for gifts. I won’t go overboard on purchases this season, but if something unexpected comes up, I will definitely consider fast payday loans to help cover costs. Click to read more on Fast Payday Loans.

Jeez friggin H. Is it really worth killing someone to get that discounted TV?
I do like to shop, but when desperate retailers pull sales gimmicks like we are now seeing, it brings out the worst in everyone and Black Friday becomes a curse.

I was appalled when I first heard this story, absolutely disgusted that people turn into a pack of wild animals to save a few bucks. Merry freakin Christmas. This is not the retilers fault as so many want to blame, people did this. Horrible people, but people just the same.

While I've never been trampled attending a sale, I have been push and shoved out of the way, by someone so dead-set on a bargain that they didn't care what they had to do to get it.

We all like a good deal. However, I don't think it's worth killing someone just to get it.

Anyway, after becoming fed up with the way weekend shoppers behave, I decided to only shop on those quiet weekdays now: I don't need to be involved in a cattle run to get a bargain that way.

This is pathetic, absurd and ridiculous as a matter of fact i don't think any words can describe this. Nothing at wal mart is worth killing this innocent man who did nothing wrong but to service the public that killed him. It's even sad when they continue shopping walked and passed paramedics who were working hard to trying to save this guy without any remorse. People who purchased anything from this walmart at that time of the day they should be ashamed. How do you feel handing someone a gift you bought from walmart that day for a christmas? What do you say, "This is worth so much because i killed someone for it". If you purchased anything at this store during that time you should feel responsible.

This incident has and will keep repeating itself for years to come and if sit here all day telling each how horrible this is it will happen again and then what. We repeat it again and again? I say fuck that! I say we get as many people to stop buying from wal-mart as we can untill they get their act together. I have all ready have started too i have stopped at least ten regular wal-mart customers from using the store untill they get their act together. If you want to help with solve this injust reply to this comment or better yet get more people to stop buying from wal-mart.
