Holiday Party Looks From the Red Carpet

12/16/2008 12:01PM by Kristen Seymour

Hey, Holiday Party Hottie

We're always looking to the stars for fashion inspiration, and this time of year is no exception. The red carpet is nothing if not festive, and our favorite celebrities have given us loads of ideas for what to wear to the next holiday party -- check them out in the gallery!

    Izabella Miko
There's nothing wrong with wearing a little black dress to a holiday party -- it's flattering, sexy, and safe. But because it's the holidays, go with one that has a little added interest. Think of fun sleeves, an embellished neckline or hem, or maybe a contrasting sash at the waist. Don't be afraid to get a little crazy -- if you're sticking with black, you can embrace sparkles, ruffles, or whatever else suits your style!

    Becki Newton
A holiday cocktail dress is an easy choice -- stand out in the crowd with a chic white suit. Sure, it's menswear-inspired, but it's completely ladylike. A shimmery little cami underneath and some sexy stilettos, along with a few shiny accessories will make certain you have every head turning your way.

    Reese Witherspoon
If you're wearing a simple dress of any shade, think about going old school with hair, make up, and jewelry. You'll look pretty, polished and perfectly ready to be smooched beneath the mistletoe.

    Nicole Kidman
Christmastime is the perfect time to break out the metallics. Whether you opt for a full metallic dress, a top, a skirt, or even just a scarf. Or, if you're not into wearing metallics, maybe you want to incorporate some metallics into your make up palette in the form of eye shadow or a super shiny lip gloss. At the very least, explore some big, chunky, metallic jewelry, which will liven up even the plainest outfit.

    Diablo Cody
Sure, you could wear a little black dress, but navy adds a little more interest while still giving you the simple, flattering look you want. We love Diablo's trademark leopard print used as an accent, but you could go with sparkles, metallics, or any other funky fabric or color you like.

    Mary Louise Parker
Lace dresses with tights aren't just for little girls going to Sunday school anymore. This look teams sweet and sexy effortlessly, mixing the conservative cut with some sexy hair and make up. With a cut like this (and opaque tights) you could definitely get away with a shorter hemline.

    Elizabeth Pena
Take a cue from this lovely lady and get festive in a bright red dress. These bold shades of red, teamed with the fitted cut and va-va-VOOM neckline make this dress a perfect choice. The only accessory you need is plenty of sass -- red dresses clash with self-consciousness.

    Eva Mendes
Bright colors are always fabulous for a party, and while we'd generally recommend darker jewel tones for a Christmas party, this bright yellow number is gorgeous with Eva's skin and hair. Don't think of only the standard green and red -- think about what looks hot on you. Pinks, purples, even shades of orange could be just what you need.

    Eva Longoria Parker
What's more fitting for a holiday party than satin and bows in a bold color? A bright and shiny cocktail dress like Eva's will be a hit at any party. Just make sure your shoes are hot enough to hold their own!
