Dawes Design eco-friendly diamond ringAre you searching for a gift for an elegant socially-responsible woman -- or for yourself? Look no further, Dawes Design is a one stop shop for fashionistas that are interested in jewelry that's beautiful but doesn't come at a cost to our planet. Read on to learn more.

As a mother, Jennifer Dawes' priority is keeping a healthy Earth for her children. The designer says, "I want to add something to this world, not take it away. Becoming a mother has been the most profoundly meaningful and spiritual experience I have ever come to know. It has changed the way I perceive our future and how important it is to the commitment to a socially and environmentally responsible lifestyle."

That's why she uses recycled gold and works exclusively with gemstones that are "conflict-free," meaning you'll never end up with a blood diamond on your hands.

Aside from that, her pieces are truly amazing. These are some of the most unique rings, necklaces, earrings and necklaces you've ever seen. Yes, they're pricey, but think of them as an investment piece.

He notes that most design professors teach what they have learned which is rooted in traditional design theory such as Bauhaus form giving, meaning color theory, typography, 2D design and 3D design. He highlights these are relevant for manufactured product design and not necessarily for social problem solving design.
  • How Design Thinking Problem Solving Can Improve How Design Thinking Problem Solving Can Improve Play In Chapter 11 of 17 designer and educator Jon Kolko interprets design thinking. He talks about the rise of "Design Thinking" philosophy, specifically using design methods to solve strategic business and organizational problems. He notes its shortcomings, specifically how design "doing" must complement design "thinking". He notes the "doing" part is often thought of as menial - commoditizing and offshoring product design for mass production overseas.

This is so beautiful jewelry and the price is not so bad considering the artisan work. In Italy, where I live, you would pay much more for that type of handmade jewelry, especially considering the detial. Visiting California, my friend and I bought necklaces and stacking rings in San Francisco of this artist. Her works are incredible.

Hi There - This is Danielle from Brilliant Earth. I thought it might be helpful for me to offer some information regarding conflict free diamonds. We are very committed to diamond origin education, and will be more than happy to answer questions about our company, conflict free diamonds and metal mining issues. Additionally, Brilliant Earth uses fair-trade and recycled gold, mitigating the damaging environmental effects of dirty gold mining, and ensuring that miners are paid fair wages and working in safe conditions.

All diamonds purchased from Brilliant Earth include a certificate guaranteeing their conflict-free origin. Our diamonds originate from one of two Canadian diamond mines in the Northwest Territories of Canada: Diavik and EKATI. All of our Canadian diamonds have certification policies compliant with one of the leading bodies for Canadian diamonds such as the Canadian Diamond Code of Conduct, Canadamark, or the Government of the Northwest Territories. Our diamonds larger than 0.30ct are also accompanied by a laboratory grading report as well as a laser inscription on the girdle of the diamond which further helps you to identify your diamond. We don’t believe that you should have to pay more for an ethically sourced product – as a result, our prices are quite competitive.

For more information regarding the diamond verification and Canadian diamonds, please visit the following links:

http://www.brilliantearth.com/certification.aspx
http://www.brilliantearth.com/Canadian-diamonds.aspx

While there is currently no standard for fair trade diamonds, Brilliant Earth is actively working to promote the development of such standards. We are also active in various pilot programs for ethically sourced African diamonds. The mining regions of West Africa remain among the poorest in their respective countries with few benefits of the mineral wealth trickling down to mining communities. We support the development of a healthy industry for ethically-sourced diamonds as the surest way to promote social reform, providing a direct economic incentive for our industry to implement fair trade diamond practices. As part of this social mission, we also donate 5% of profits to help communities in Africa and to help build a foundation of infrastructure for this fair trade future.

In addition to our policies on ethical gemstone sourcing, Brilliant Earth uses 100% recycled gold and platinum in the jewelry we produce.

I would be excited to answer any of your questions either by phone or email, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Warm Regards,
Danielle

Beautiful pieces that you can feel good about.

I have worn Jennifer's pieces and can tell you that I always receive abundant compliments. My favorite is the three-stone slide necklace. It truly is stunning.
