Naked & Famous - Cool Jeans, New Suits

1/26/2009 5:00PM by Michael Cohen

Some artists are trained that an unclothed human form is nude; but to be naked, the subject must bear his/her soul. We love Naked & Famous because it's raw. Not just that there's untreated denim (there is), but because the entire range is so straight forward in approach. The fabric choices (denim compositions and weights) make Naked & Famous a highly desirable collection. There are jeans in 100% cotton denim, 95% cotton with stretch, cashmere/denim, silk/denim and a limited edition of 37 Hank-dyed with natural indigo.

This statement from company founder and self-proclaimed denim nerd, Brandon Svarc, sums up the brand perspective: "We like to make fun of brands that sell overpriced jeans. Expensive jeans are ok, as long as they are rare, valuable and exceptional and there is no fake value built into the price. We think it's ridiculous that people pay a premium for brands that sell jeans for $200 and up, solely because they have a celebrity designer or even just celebrity affiliations."

The Naked & Famous SS/ 09 look book is already our favorite from this season so far. And after only a year in stores, Naked & Famous is expanding from its core of denim for men and women to add button-downs, skinny ties, and select ready-to-wear. We adore the newly launched Skinny Suit, shown below in grey gaberdine.
