We love rock climbing and we love jewelry. And until Jaclyn Mayer and Orly Genger came along, we never expected those two passions to ever collide.Mayer, a Parsons School of Design grad, usually creates jewelry full of classic, Victorian touches. But she recently partnered with Genger, a New York artist, and the result is a collection of chunky rope and lanyard necklaces and bracelets.
While some of the pieces have a pretty, crocheted feel -- like the gold-and-silver choker pictured -- others are decidedly more utilitarian. (Think somewhere between bungee cord and friendship bracelets.)
Our tip? Pair any of them with the satin, cropped pants that appeared on the spring runway for a look that's less Sporty Spice than sophisticated.
