Retro Brows are Back!

It's the dawn of a new era -- full eyebrows are back with a vengeance, and those of us with bushy brows couldn't be happier about it. It's one thing to tweeze the strays, but it's quite another to shape bigger brows down to the skinny, surprised arches that have graced so many famous faces over the past decade. We've talked about the Return of the Full Brow before, but this is such a major trend that it warrants further discussion.

Retro Brows are Back!

    Brooke Shields
She was one of the bushiest-browed babes back in the Eighties, and she's right on trend now. You'll notice with her, as with most of the famous faces here, that the brows are full, but still well-groomed. Letting your brows get thicker doesn't mean you can let them grow willy-nilly.

    Getty Images

    Scarlett Johansson
These brows are impeccably groomed, but we're loving how they're thick from the middle all the way to the outer edge. They frame her face and bring more attention to her eyes. Because, be honest -- how often have you really noticed her eyes.

    Getty Images

    Keira Knightley
This time around, Keira has been one of the best examples of how to wear a thick brow. She keeps a feminine arch, but doesn't sacrifice fullness. So sexy -- this is the picture we're taking to our waxer.

    Getty Images

    Jennifer Connelly
Well, we're thinking these might be a tiny bit much -- this is the caterpillar brow back in full force. However, it's also a distinct possibility that J.Conn is just ahead of her time, and in another six months or so, we'll all be aiming for this amount of growth.

    Getty Images

    Sienna Miller
Sienna's eyebrows might be the best example of how a thicker brow can help your face look more youthful. This is the best we've seen her look in a while. Also, take note of how the darker brow still works with her highlighted hair.

    Getty Images

    Drew Barrymore
Drew shows us that blondes can still have fun with this trend. Unlike Sienna, who left her brow dark, Drew took her brow color down when she dyed her hair. It works, because it works with her coloring -- but you don't want to do this at home. Only a pro should apply dye near your eyes.

    Getty Images

    Isla Fisher
Look at the length of these babies -- they're not super thick, but they definitely make a statement.

    Getty Images

    Beyonce
You know, these brows live up to Beyonce's new "fierce" reputation -- they're bold, and they're beautiful, and while the shape is perfect, it also looks natural. You can't fight your natural shape if you're going "full out."

    Getty Images

    Ashley Olsen
She might be rather diminuitive, but this twin's eyebrows are anything but. The thick, dark brow gives brings out her face, even when her hair is hanging over her eyes.

    Getty Images

    Camilla Belle
Dark and a little devilish -- these brows look youthful, but still darkly seductive. And you know what? They're powerful, and that just might be why we find ourselves drawn to these thicker brows in more trying times.

I've always had thin stragley brows. They only grow halfway to the middle, then I have to fill them in. I look stupid if I don't.

I am sorry but thick full eyebrows look like you have catepillars on your forehead. Even if they are tweezed. Thin shapely eyebrows look classy and elegant not messy.

Eyebrows are the mark of true beauty. No plucking, waxing or whatever. Nothing beats a natural brow!

I think the way you pluck your brows should go with your features, not solely on the trend of the moment. If you have strong features, you can go with a strong brow, but if you have delicate features, you may want to go with a thinner brow. Go with what looks best on your face!

Donna you are not right. While thin looks good on some people I guess it usually looks unnatural. Ask any makeup artist/cosmetologist & I guarantee they tell you to pluck or wax your eyebrows to bring out their natural arch (or make it appear so) Having the right brow will make you look youthful, and bring out your eyes. Over plucking to make them really thin is a big no no. As you age your eyebrows will not grow back and you end up drawing them on and that looks really bad.

These are some of the sexiest women in Hollywood. We spend a fortune on looking good, clothing, makeup, cars, etc. I can tell you that the easiest and cheapest way to look good is to lose weight. Lookin' good is well worth the effort. I lost 47 pounds in 6 weeks using the Rapidthin diet at www.rapidthin.com. Good luck to all. Use what works for you.

Men who have to wake up next to a woman with no eyebrows must feel cheated because a woman looks stupid or like a space alien without eyebrows. The shape of an eyebrow can enhance or misalign your entire face... I am 66 have always plucked only the underneath on the outer ends only i pencil in lightly and blend it in with a Q tip . like liz taylor's eyebrows ..very nice......

Excuse me, but I only have half of my eyebrows due to trichotillomania (its' a hair pulling disorder, in my case, I obsessively tweeze my eyebrows) and no guy I have ever been with has "felt cheated" waking up next to me with no make up on. That's a very rude assumption.

Rose- you sound like a 66 year old clown! Yes, a Liz Taylor (who doesnt hold a candle next to some of todays hotties) wanna be 66 year old rude clown. If someone feels cheated waking next to a woman with minimal or no brows one can only assume the misery waking up next to YOU!

If anyone watch The Nanny last night on TV you would have seen the lady of the house at 5:30 am braless and no makeup whatsoever she actually had no eyebrows. She was really homely looking ... call me rude... call me whatever you want but she really was scary looking... at least i am being honest. later on she put them on and looked decent .
A woman needs to leave some hair on her brows.

Do what makes you feel good, not what some trend tells you. But i suppose if being a mindless drone programmed for uniformity works for you...go ahead.

Do you even know how stupid you sound? If you did you would never open your mouth again. The fact that we have our very first African American president should tell you that the world is growing up and you should do the same. Your racist bullshit has no place in the world anymore. You, my friend, should find the nearest staircase and take a flying leap.

Oh, and by the way, he's half white.....genius.
