America's Next Top Model Jaslene Gonzalez and Spanx, the "body shaping" undergarments designed to give the wearer a slim and shapely appearance, don't really belong in the same sentence. She has a body most women would kill for, and most men would kill to be with. But that wouldn't stop her from coming by the Spanx lounge at the Bryant Park Hotel in New York City.

And just in time for the Recession, Spanx has introduced Assets, which are sold at Target on the cheap!. For just $20 Assets introduces the Sensational Shaper. These hose slim the midriff, tummy, rear, hips, and thighs and are the perfect paring for spring's high-waisted skirts. Who says you can't look a little thinner for les than a gym membership?

But like all of Hollywood's stylists admit, all women could use a little shaping. Super skinny models want a little bit of hips as much as larger women want a little less hip. Now don't start calling me about how I'm perpetuating unrealistic social values for women's appearances. I truly believe that beauty is on the inside. But when Hollywood starlets puts on a skin-tight Herve Leger dress, or a low-cut Caroline Herrera dress, they may want a little help in the sag-factor, or the loose factor. The media rips these ladies apart when they show any kind of bulge, or bump or frump. So why give them more ammunition?

So I say, Spanx all you want.

And don't think that this is only a lady issue. Even Isaac Mizrahi has pulled his Spanx undergarment out of this pants. Looks like Seinfeld's Manziere might not be too far in the future.
