Are Thigh High Boots the New Leggings?

If we've learned anything from Blair Waldorf, it's that tights are not pants. Leggings barely make the cut. However, maybe, just maybe, boots could be. Perhaps. Oh, alright, we can't get on board with that, either.

At Milan Fashion Week, Miuccia Prada sent her models down the runway with little in the way of pants, but with boots for days. Thigh high boots aren't exactly new, but normally we've seen them as either over-the-top sexy, fetish-type footwear, or as waders for fly fishing. These seem to land somewhere in between.

Thigh High Boots at Miuccia Prada

A model walks the runway in black thigh high boots. And she doesn't look all that happy about it.

    Getty Images

This pair really reminds us of trying on our dad's waders as a kid. Look -- they require a garter to hold them up, and not the sexy kind.

    Getty Images

But then, we see these, and ... well, we're kind of on board. Maybe not with the long sweater/tiny shorts combo, but the boots are looking pretty cool.

    Getty Images

This brighter color combination definitely catches our eye, but we're really wondering how practical it is to have boots that require a belt.

    Getty Images

Whatever. Fashion doesn't have to be practical -- it has to get our attention. And boy, did this ever get ours!

    Getty Images

We don't think these should be an excuse to go without pants -- seriously, how hard is it to just put on a skirt or some trousers? We're talking to you, Lindsay Lohan -- but, we can definitely see these paired with a dangerously short skirt or some skinny jeans. And a lot of attitude. What do you think?

Fashion Week Highlights

We know we shouldn't laugh, but it's hard to keep a straight face when models tumble on the runway. This model slipped and fell during the Hérvé Leger by Max Azria show -- fortunately she recovered and was unhurt.

    Getty Images

Careful ladies, Hérvé's heels are dangerous! Not one, but two models couldn't keep on her feet during the designer's runway show. Thankfully this fallen fashionista also recovered without any injuries.

    Getty Images

The weekend's other major trainwreck didn't involve stumbling models, but one high-class prostitute-turned-C-List celeb who worked her way into the front row at Yigel Azrouel. Kelly Cutrone (who you might remember from The Hills) was fired by the designer for letting Ashlee Dupre into his show.

    Getty Images

Stylish celebs are synonymous with Fashion Week -- and this season is no exception. Julia Stiles, Hillary Duff and Paris Hilton have been turning heads -- see who else we spotted looking hot in the front row!

    Getty Images

Beauty trends are born backstage at Fashion Week. While designer duds and front row celebs were duking it out for the spotlight, we've been behind-the-scenes -- making sure you know what products models are using to look gorgeous on the runway. Check out our exclusive coverage.

    Getty Images

And let's not forget the clothes, of course. Jason Wu, who designed Michelle Obama's inauguration ball gown, showed a collection fit for the First Lady (or anyone who enjoys elegance and sophistication). See what else is hot this season -- check out Refinery 29 for more exclusive news runway reviews.

What I want to know is, where did they dig up such a God-awful ugly model. She sure isn't one of Victoria's "Angels."

Weird. Nothing attractive about those boots. Does nothing for me. Does nothing for the model other than she gets paid strutting about in it.

Fashion is all to often a waste of fabric and time. Most of it looks like crap and would never be worn by anyone with any real taste when it comes to clothing.

Looks like there a few sizes to big to me. Tight high boots = sexy .....loose fly fishing boots = not so sexy.

Those boots are for another planet, not for Earthlings. But realy do they expect real people to wear that stuff? Only the mindless that MUST HAVE THE LATEST wear that type of nonsence. Everday working women don't go for that way out stuff, it needs to be toned way down.

If you are a "rock-star" you are welcome to all the "models"
if you want them. They strut their dumb ugly selves down a "runway", with that goofy robot grin, slip & fall, cry for sympathy....they don't get paid enough is what they claim. Yep, you're welcome....take them !

Ugh! Yuck! Ich! Yiiiiiieeeee! Apparently designers have decided they HATE women. Hair by just got out of bed after weeks at an orgie-lost brush! Shoes by mid evil torturers. Makeup by Mr. Icahntseeya! Cloths by monster movie design....Fashion throughout this entire presentation is the pits-and I KNOW fashion-get back to classics-great cut and tailoring, textiles that suite female bodies not furniture-the so called futuristic looks all, every single one are throw backs and not one is original...We see everything from the sixties and seventies to the thirties and forties and the Lyre bird hat-it's a joke right-poor kid would risk Cheney blasting her. Back to the drawing board - back to basics we are in a depression-get a clue for next runway presentation.....
