The Younger Skin Diet - Week 8

boydie beenerThe final "bonus" week of the Wellness with Rose program was incredibly fun because, as a beauty fanatic, I love testing different creams and oils on my skin. Now that Rose has helped me flush out my body and clear up my skin, I am not afraid to try anything she suggests. This week she provided enough topical suggestions to keep me experimenting in my "spa" (a.k.a. my bathroom) for months!

As noted in previous weeks, internal skin care is the number one way to clear and even out skin, but topical product is not far behind. Did you know that anything you rub onto your skin is felt by every major organ (the brain, heart, lungs, liver, etc.) within 26 seconds? Did you also know that most cancers and illnesses today are linked to environmental toxins (including skin products) that build up over the course of decades? This is why natural products are so important to any anti-aging regimen. Not only that, but important to your health, period!

Don't Use This

Rose suggested eliminating toxic products, many of which were obvious. But one that wasn't was mineral oil. Yes, it is natural, but it is actually banned in Europe and Australia because of its harmful side effects, including aging skin. However, here in the States, it is the number one filler in skin care products. Rose mentioned that even derms and docs recommend mineral products because many companies that sell these brands are the ones funding dermatology schools. So no matter who prescribes mineral oil, purge your cabinets of it. And be wary of the many names it comes under today – baby oil, petroleum, etc.

Instead, Try This

Next, we went over tons of good products to apply to your skin, ranging from DIY treatments to essential oils to over-the-counter creams. I'm not going to give up all of Rose's goodies but I will divulge a few favorites that I personally use.

Dry Brushing: I started doing this as an easy way to flush toxins and stimulate the lymph system which in turn, eliminates cellulite. Grab a dry brush or a loofah, start at your feet and move towards your heart in a circular motion before you hop in the shower. I saw a difference after just one week of doing this, and now do it up to five times a week.

Coconut Oil: I mentioned this before and will do it again. This fantastic oil has both anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties. It is proven to help acne because it is anti-inflammatory and does not clog pores. It also has a natural, built-in sunscreen. It can be used as a hair moisturizer, face moisturizer, on foods ... I could go on all day about this one.

Essential Oil/Epsom Bath: I've been doing this one for years and Rose only confirmed how beneficial a bath filled with essential oils like orange, lemon, and juniper along with a cup of Epsom salt is. Lay in the mix for about 15 minutes and the salt will suck toxins right out of your skin while the oils will replenish it.

I usually take two days a week where I indulge myself in an at-home spa. I'll dry brush, do a hair treatment, exfoliate my skin, do masks, peels, add oils to my face and bath, rub on self tanner etc. I encourage everyone to do the same, not only for the skin benefits, but for the relaxation and de-stressing benefits too. I can't wait to try a 10% glycolic cream (that she raves about for its ability to stimulate collagen and plump lines) and some of the other easy, at-home anti-cellulite treatments Rose filled us in on. After all, summer is just around the corner!

Sadly, the program is over. But you can still stay tuned for an exclusive interview I have with Rose in the coming weeks. If you have any questions, feel free to post them on this comment board and I'll be sure to ask.

My Review of "The Younger Skin Diet"

While it is called, "The Younger Skin Diet" the program fruited into so much more for me. I cut out bad foods and am no longer a "sugarholic." I don't get food cravings anymore, period, which has helped me shed some extra pounds. Eating better has also immensely improved my skin and energy. My acne is gone. I work out an extra day or two a week. I also cut out the pill which drastically changed my hormonal balance. Instead of feeling like I'm on an emotional rollercoaster every day, I wake up feeling content, grounded and balanced. All of the above has made my life and all of my relationships (especially the most important ones of wife, mother, and the relationship I have with myself) so much happier and more satisfying. Lastly, the program did do its initial duty by clearing up my acne but has also given me fine line free, smaller pored, even toned, radiant skin. And this is only after three months! I can't imagine what years of living this way will do to my health, confidence, and life in general.

If you want to look and feel this way too, I suggest that you at least get in contact with Rose to find out more all that her program can offer you. For two months of her training and your time, you can lose weight, gain health, eat right, and get the skin of your dreams. What are you waiting for? Click now!

I really appreciated this posting on educating others on the dangerous toxic chemicals found in the products we use everyday. Teenagers especially need to learn this at an early age, moms with newborns actually everyone. If you've read Not Just A Pretty Face, Or Dying To Be Beautiful, 2 great resource books on this subject. Unborn babies tested in the womb, have the toxic chemicals in their blood that are found in the products their moms use on their skin, frightening stuff! Thanks for visiting my health blog, feel free to stop by again. http://www.ljhealth.wordpress.com
