There was a palpable energy in the air this evening as the Council of Fashion Designers of America announced the nominees and honorees for its annual Fashion Awards. The ceremony, which will take place on June 15th at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall, will feature an impressive roster of Obama-approved designers -- and potentially -- the First Lady herself.

Michelle Obama will be bestowed with the Board of Directors Special Tribute Award while Narciso Rodriguez will face off against Marc Jacobs and Kate and Laura Mulleavy of Rodarte for Womenswear Designer of the Year. Fellow First Lady favorites Jason Wu and Thakoon are up against Alexander Wang for Swarovski's top prize for womenswear.
