Mystery Shopping, Part 3 - Tip of the Day!

shoppingI went out on a limb and spent a few hours doing the mystery shopping thing for Market Force. Like many of you I was curious – is this the real deal or just another scam?

By now you probably want to know what my take on this whole mystery shop thing. Should you or shouldn't you waste your time?

First things first, always use a valid company like Market Force. Because, yes, there are scandalous mystery shopping companies but Market Force isn't one of them. All of the staff was kind, courtesy and more than helpful with any questions or concerns. Plus, they make it easy by shooting out emails everyday with shops in your area, how much they're worth, and easy to print PDFs for materials and scans. Once your shops are done, within a week or so, you receive a check for all of your hard work.

On a personal note, while the first two shops were a little hard on my soft memory, I think the "new job" nerves played a big part, and given some time, it could be a really good deal. I learned that these shops are geared toward those looking to earn a little extra cash, maybe upwards of about $100 a week; the perfect scenario for elderly folks already walking the mall, college kids looking to update their closets on a dime, or stay-at-home moms looking for some spending money and an excuse to get out of the house. After all, if you're already at the mall or you're a total fast food junkie, getting a free meal plus your shop fee (a.k.a. the amount you get paid for doing the shop) once in awhile for filling out some paperwork isn't half bad.

All in all, you can definitely earn a little cash with ease if you choose your company right. It isn't anything to quit your day job over, but it's nice for those who have some extra time on their hands. I give Market Force's mystery shopping an A+!

I have been a Mystery Shopper for several years. I had never shopped for Market Force and just did my first assignment a few months ago. Let me first say that I have NEVER had a problem with any of the companies I have worked for.

I was promised that if I did this certain assignment I would receive $30 compensation rather than the normal $6 because they could find no one else to do it and I had to drive some distance. When I received my check, it was for $6. I e-mailed twice and finally got the answer that, yes, the check amount was correct. Excuse me??? I am still working on that one.

I agreed to do a second assignment for the company because again, they could find no one else. The day of the assignment I had a terrible migraine. I phoned in to tell them I would not be able to do the assignment. I was told that this was only my second job with the company and that if I didn't do it I could be removed from their list. The person on the phone was NOT nice at all. I said, ok, I will wait an hour to see if I feel any better. I did not. So I phoned in again and had to leave a message. I said I did not feel well and could not do the assignment and I would not be back in that area for a week. I was promptly de-activated.

Once again, I have NEVER been treated like this by any other company and I have had several where I received bonuses and didn't have to argue that I had indeed been promised one.
