It is already banned, they voted No last week when presented with a position paper from the ASSP to permit Brazilian, Chest and Back waxing, The NJ Board is not discussing this further but our hope is that by faxing the AG's office Division of Law dept we can get them to over turn this before Corzine signs it off.! I am extremely bothered and irritated by the story concerning the ban on Brazilian bikini waxing in New Jersey. As an award winning (Philly Style Magazine 2005) esthetician for both facials and waxing, I am very aware of the high level of expertise required to perform a basic bikini wax. A Brazilian waxing requires even more finesse and skill. As senior esthetician at Rescue Rittenhouse Spa I saw how many new graduates applying for employment were turned away because they had very little skill. I was so disturbed by this that I started my own company http://www.lindatheskindiva.com which focuses on filling the gaps of knowledge for both newbie and experienced estheticians. Not surprisingly one of our most requested workshops is for waxing training. I am torn as to whether or not the state should have jurisdiction over the waxing practices in New Jersey.
After all, the learning curve is built on the unsuspecting crotches of the public. But I know for a fact that the schools in Pa. require only 300 hours, just enough to learn sanitation laws and certainly not enough to learn spa practices. The average cost of an esthetic curriculum is $4,000-$8,000 dollars and yet these girls graduate unable to even get their foot in the door of a reputable spa. And according to CNN, esthetics is the no. 4 top ranked job in the service industry. But in Pa, schools with a 300 hour curriculum don’t even teach waxing. Of course if you call the schools, they’ll tell you otherwise. But I have a list of students who would tell you the truth.

We are a Brazilian Waxing spa in Atlanta. One of the Best waxing spa in Atlanta ( http:/www.sweetsamba.com ) and this ban could have happen here in Georgia too. We (the ones that follow guidelines) should not have to pay for some of those who don't. Linda you are so right.

I love hairy women. under arms, legs don't shave any of those areas.

Not shaving is JUST GROSS!!! It is laziness, and bad grooming !! If you shave your legs each morning in the shower, it takes 2 minutes!! Shame on her!
