5 Signs of Venus Week

the venus weekHave you ever noticed that there is a week out of every month when you look and feel great, plus you're sort of irresistible to everyone you meet?

Even though we're not sure we experience something quite this amazing on a regular basis, we are fascinated by the idea, which Dr. Rebecca Booth called the "Venus Week".

According to Dr. Booth, this cluster of "good hair days" is related to our hormonal cycle and happens the week before we ovulate. Cool and weird, right?

In her book by the same name, she goes into big medical details, but for us the most interesting part was the beauty stuff.

Here are the five signs you're having your Venus Week:
  • clear skin -- no zits, or your acne is better than usual
  • elastic, well hydrated skin -- you're glowing
  • soft, shiny, full hair
  • better flexibility and muscle tone
  • you're not hungry or craving anything, and you feel skinny

Sounds great! If only every week could be Venus Week. Fortunately Dr. Booth also gives tips for "faking" the beauty benefits of Venus Week. Her recommendations include:

  • give yourself -- or get -- a facial during week four of your cycle, the lowest phase of your hormones
  • eat less sugar during your non-Venus weeks to avoid feeling bloated and reduce breakouts
  • use a silicon spray to get the shiny look of Venus Week hair

Intrigued? You can check out her website for more information, including how to order her book.

Dr. Booth is actually my doctor and she's AMAZING. It took over 3 months to get into her, but if you live in the Louisville area, she's the best around.

I'm post-menopausal so I guess I'll never see another Venus week for the rest of my life. No big deal though. My priorities have changed with age and being sexy with great hair one week a month is not important

I'm post-menopausal and I have Venus weeks all the time. There's more to it than just hormones, ladies.

I'm post-menopausal too, and once you get through the worst of it, every week is venus week. There was a time when I didn't think I would get through it, but now that its in my rear view mirror, and my symptoms are lessening, I have a whole new outlook on life. I even joined a gym this past week, and the boost of endorphins and seratonin you get from exercise is like a drug that makes you look on the sunny side of everything. All of my relationships with family members are improving too now that I feel better about myself. When you look good you feel good about life.
