Undies That Reduce Cellulite - Too Good to be True?

Want to reduce cellulite, but tired of rubbing all of those lotions and serums onto your backside? Take heart -- there's a new product out there that could be the answer to your anti-cellulite prayers (What? You don't pray about that?). Beginning today, John Lewis is carrying a line of undergarments that have been shown to reduce cellulite in 80 percent of women. Seriously, all you have to do is wear them -- it doesn't get much easier, folks.

The Scala Bio Fir Anti-Cellulite lingerie is available in stores (you can look online, but as this post is being written, all styles are out of stock). John Lewis feels confident in the line -- it did its own research, letting 50 women wear the underwear six hours a day for 30 days, finding an 80 percent success rate. The store's lingerie buyer, Helen Spencer, said,

"We are approached very regularly with products promising the kind of results women want, but which haven't stood up to scrutiny. This is where Scala's range is different -- it does exactly what it says on the tin."

She went on to explain that, because the technology is within the fabric, "the anti-cellulite properties remain intact for the lifetime of the garment, withstanding countless washes."

Okay, so they've been tested, shown to work, and they remain effective for a long, long time. What's the catch? It's not the price -- these wonder-undies are only £25 or £30 (between around $37 and $45), depending on the style you select. However, there are no shops in the States, so if you have to make a trip to England or Scotland to buy them, we suppose that price becomes less of a bargain.

Still, given the chance, we'd definitely give these a try. How about you? In the meantime, we'll settle for the shapewear shown below.

The Best of Spring Shapewear

    DUMI SHAPEWEAR SHAPING HI-CUT BRIEF

Ergonomic undies? Who knew? Rebecca Apsan, owner of New York City lingerie boutique Le Petite Coquette, recommends this pair for "light control." Dumi's panties gently shape your tummy, thighs, and butt and stay in place while you strut your stuff (which means you've entered a wonderful wedgie-free zone). Plus, they're available in leopard print, which offsets (at least partially), the conservative hi-cut waist. "It livens things up underneath while getting rid of that little pouch," says Aspen.

WACOAL TRY A LITTLE SLENDERNESS BODY BRIEFER

Somewhere someone is patting herself on the back for coming up with such a clever name. But cuteness aside, this is a seriously sleek shapewear. The all-in-one nylon/elastane briefer banishes back fat and minimizes your mid-section while shaping and supporting your breasts with hidden underwire cups. Wear it under just about anything for immediate smoothing. It's like a tummy tuck, without the gross surgery.

    DKNY FIRM CONTROL MESH THONG

Bare Necessities's Heather Gross also endorses DKNY's new shapewear styles for to their firm control and pretty feminine detailing. "My favorite piece is the firm control mesh shapewear thong. It has a beautiful mesh overlay with a chic pointelle design that is all around the thong," she says. "It flattens your tummy, slims your waist, and eliminates panty lines. Did I mention it's sexy too?" SO not your mother's idea of shapewear.

    SPANX BRA-LLELUJAH RACERBACK BRA

Yes, it's almost summer. No that doesn't mean your bra straps should be overtly exposed. To fight that fashion faux pas, the maker of the ultimate squish-it-all-in tights has designed a great bra for shoulder-baring styles – especially tanks. With naturally adjusting shoulder and back straps made from hosiery, it banishes VBL (visible bra lines) and keeps back fat at bay. A front-closure design and smooth, foam-lined cups offer full frontal coverage. Bra-llelujah indeed!

BODY WRAP SEAMLESS HIGH WAIST/LONG LEG BODY PANTY

A one-stop, bulge-battling force of nature, this body panty's breathable fabric won't leave you feeling like a stuffed sausage (even though it features a high waist and provides full support for your sides, tummy, hips, thighs and butt). Says Le Petite Coquette's Apsan, "One really great thing about this piece is that it doesn't roll down." Perhaps even more importantly, it offers "bathroom convenience." In other words, if you have to pee after a few cocktails you don't have to take off the whole contraption. Genius.

BODY WRAP SEAMLESS SHAPEWEAR STRAPLESS BRA WITH SLIP

With its removable straps, this bra-meets-slip is ideal for spring's flirty shoulder-revealing styles. Better yet, it can support up to a D cup while flattening the tummy and slimming the waist. Says Body Wrap believer Aspan, "It's perfect for achieving an overall smooth look. My manager is extraordinarily thin and even she wears it for that extra smoothness." For those of us not so lucky, it sure beats the StairMaster.

LA PERLA UNDERWIRE BRA AND LASER-CUT BRIEF

If La Perla can't make shapewear sexy, no one can. Enter their Update series made with Xtra Life Lyrca for a light, breathable, stretch-proof fit that's built to last and at these prices you'll need it to. Bonus: This third-date acceptable option won't leave your paramour wondering, what the hell is that thing you're wearing? (if he gets that far).

SECRET WEAPONS BY ANNETTE HIGH BACK BODY SHAPER WITH LEGS

It's not exactly a James Bond toy (look an astray that turns into a poison dart!) but it is pretty neat that you can still wear your favorite bra with this one-piece wonder that claims to be the "ultimate secret weapon" for achieving a flawless silhouette. It's seamless, comfortable, and the high back helps those unwanted rolls disappear. Still need convincing? Its "molded seat" boosts your booty while a woven midsection packs extra tummy flattening power.

CASS LUXURY SHAPEWEAR INVISIBELLAS CAMI BODYSUIT

Cass's high-end shapewear is made from a blend of nylon and spandex and designed with their "invisupport" patented slimming system. The slenderizing bodysuit, available in a full panty or thong style, lifts the bust (for up to C cups without underwires which makes wearing a bra optional), slims the torso, and targets that flabby stuff that busts out around your belt line. As Cass claims, "It's you, only better." Sign us up.

CASS LUXURY SHAPEWEAR ANIMOTO CAMI DRESS

Among the most stylish and versatile shapewear options is this form-fitting cami dress. Use it as firming foundation under silks or knits or be daring and wear it out on the town with a cute cropped jacket or modern cardigan. It won't cling to your clothes and it offers solid support (even without a bra). Most importantly, it stays put at a three inches above the knee length. Hot to trot!.

I can't stop looking at myself in the mirror! I am 43 and have had cellulite for at least 20 years but I am now on week 12 of this plan: http://cli.gs/TheCelluliteCure and my cellulite is almost gone. My thighs look better than ever. And you know what, it was the best thing I have ever done for myself, and it was the easiest thing I have ever done too.

I came across this diet plan by accident online when I was looking up a calorie counter and it sounded very interesting so I decided to give it a try. I think it's the best money I have ever spent. Like any diet, it takes motivation and lots of will power and having people doing it with me helps out alot. This diet is so easy to follow...its all the foods you love and I feel like Im not starving myself. http://tinyurl.com/easyfatloss I am now used to drinking all the water it requires and to tell the truth Im not really exercising like I should..just some walking and pilates every now and then....and Im not looking anything like a shar'pei like someone said earlier. I'm not losing 9 pounds every 11 days like it says but that's okay. I think that much is a little too drastic. Ive been losing 4-5 pounds every 11 days which I think is pretty darn good. What I like most about this diet is the fact you get a 3 day cheat period where you can eat anything you want in moderation...this motivates me even more to stick with this diet through the 11 days and not to cheat until the cheat days. It's so worth it. What other diet is there that you can do that? I have promoted this diet to so many people and everyone I know who has tried it so far loves it. http://tinyurl.com/easyfatloss

I am in love and his name is Mr. Nature Cleanse http://cli.gs/NatureCleanse ! This is by far the best cleansing product available. I saw it on Oprah and thought I would give it a try. Nature Cleanse has pretty much changed the way I live my life. My daily chores are done in a breeze and I have more energy, not to mention more time in my day since I don't mind jumping out of bed in the mornings at 7:00 am now. This is not just a cleanser. It is also a detox. I can feel it working and have only been using it for 6 weeks.

Most women I know who have had cellulite lost it simply by losing weight. I know what it's like to try and lose weight. I lost 47 pounds in 6 weeks using the Rapidthin diet at
www.rapidthin.com. Good luck to all. Use what works for you.

The only way to get rid of back pain is stretching , exercise , and a good diet. If you like to swim that's good too, but strengthening you're core is most important !

I agree, Beverly. The comment sections of these articles are nothing but crappy ads for ripoff products, anymore. They didn't used to be this way. You could read the comments and actually get some good advice or ideas in the past, but not anymore.
AOL should monitor and kick off any comment with an address in it. AND PLEASE-never respond to any address with tinyurl.com in it!!! It could contain viruses, etc.

Because if you have a legitimate comment or question-no one is interested. Everyone uses these as free advertising and not much more than that...it's too bad.

2 good tips while you are losing weight is to try a yummie tummie and fitflops. They are both fabulous - the yummie tummies slim you down and don't ride up and take care of the awful muffin top. The fitflops work your legs while you wear them. You can get them at http://www.tomkshoes.com or http://stores.shop.ebay.com/tomkshoes

I don't know about underwear that reduces cellulite, but I am a big fan of smartsole anti-cellulite insoles. http://www.smartsole.com
Smartsoles are insoles that can be put in any flat sneaker, shoe or boot. They have negative heel and positive arch so that you burn more calories with every step and tone muscles. My workout usually consists of a quick brisk calorie burning walk. Good for both myhead and body! I read about them on an Oprah board and the code jm10 gives you 10% off

I lost over 80 pounds after having twins and worked out and ate well...cellulite is hard to get rid of. I find it hard to believe that undies can rid you of celulite. I have worn MBTs and smartsoles and I found the insoles and sneakers help as they increase the amount of effort it takes to walk and you burn more calories.

I write a blog on health, fitness and looking fabulous.. lots of low cal easy recipes http://www.flaxchick.com

Becky I would not think this would do anything for your back problem. I would suggest talking to your doctor most times they recomend exercises that help. I also reccomend with your doctors approval a routine that focuses on core strength, flexibility. If you decide to work out and get a trainer please research the credentials and don't assume every trainer can help you. Something as serious as a backissue that you have requires special attention, someone with corrective exercise training or sports medicine degree would be ideal for you, or a physical therapist.

My husband has 2 lumbar disks that are ruptured, spondeliosis along his spinal cord (sorry spelling is off) and his back slips instead of bending basically his back sucks. However, he works out smart and with care, we are both trainers and he obtained a sports med degree so he could care for himself. Doctors are amazed he is able lead a normal life to do things with out medications and attribute it to him working out wisely and taking care of his body.
I wish you the best of luck

I have the same problems as your husband and the pain management doctor and therapist are amazed how I take no pain meds. I will admit if weatehr changes drastically and quickly Motrin is my friend. And I have been put on prednisone to cut inflamation when my arms go numb. But very seldom. But I will tell you I fractured my spine years ago
and when it hurts My husband puts pressure on bith hips at sametiem and its heaven. SO I understand her question about this garment The tension in it may help!!!!!
