When the First Ladies of fashion both step out in white dresses, you know summer has officially arrived!

After spending time in Paris with daughters Malia and Sasha, Michelle Obama flew to Normandy, France today (June 6) to commemorate the 65th anniversary of D-Day alongside husband President Obama, French President Nicolas Sarkozy and his wife Carla Bruni-Sarkozy.

We all remember when the First Ladies first met and looked like tie-neck twins, well this time they were again on the same wardrobe wavelength.

MObama accessorized her white-on-white jacket (Michael Kors) and sheath (Narciso Rodriguez) combo with metallic, Jimmy Choo open-toe kitten heels and a chunky silver Givenchy belt (worn over her jacket), while Bruni cinched her cap-sleeved Dior sheath with a skinny black belt and wore closed-toe kitten heels. Bruni also topped her look with a simple black coat in an extremely similar cut that she later removed for the ceremony.

Coincidence? We're starting to think not! With this much matching, is it be possible they planned their outfits over a lovely déjeuner?

Michelle looks better than Carla. For a former runway model, Carla disappoints me. For the haters who commented about the belt, you wear your belt based on your body structure- Carla's body structure makes sense for where her belt is, while Michelle's belt suits her waist location. It's just like wearing a low waist and a mid waist jean. They both look good, fashion appeals to different tastes!

Comment on the position of Belt is absolutely, completely, totally correct!

LAI...in fashion you play up your good traits and playdown the bad ones. Michelle has a short waist for such a big body and height. For her to wear her belts around her waist which is up pretty high just cuts her body all up. She looks better in sheath dresses which are not too tight. A little shape to them but not too fitted looks best on her. You don't wear outfits that don't flatter your body in some way. She would look better in classic outfits. She had a neat black pantsuit with a sharp and crisp white bouse on not too long ago and it was a lot more flattering. She should not wear the belts up on her high waist AT ALL. Carla has a models figure so she can wear anything. I am sure Michelle is surrounded by "YES" people who don't advise her in the best of choices.....

People, get serious. It is one thing to admire Michelle Obama's personality, career, brains and even nice arms, but in the looks department, if you are not a natural born goddess (as Bruni is) you can either go the Angela Merkel way and say "I just dont care" or go the Hillary way and just listen to people who tell you "this might look better on you", and more intelligently, know your game and where you can compete and againt whom. It is just impossible to compare these two women in matters of looks and or style. Obama is not dressed for her body type, and that belt is not only out of place but also plain ugly. Belts are to be worn on the waist, and even if she has a high waist, this belt is like four inches over her actual waist. She looks awful, I'm sorry, and somebody should tell her that, because with all the effort she puts on her looks, it would appear she cares about it- a lot.
Yes, Bruni can wear whatever she wants. Probably. Yet, why doesn't she? Maybe she sticks to classic non-fuss designs for a universal truth a guy once told me (and he was straight): "fancy shiny clothes are for plain women who need something pretty ON, women who are already beautiful don't need all that fuss, they shine better on simple clothes". Something Carla seems to know damn well. Everytime she puts on something, be it jeans, be it a suit, be it a gala dress, all you can think of is how amazingly beautiful and elegant SHE is- oh yes, the dress too.

We think you have definitely hit the proverbial nail on the head with FLOTUS, Michelle....

As far as her belts go, someone should take all of them away from her and bury them in the White House garden. She would be much better off without them.....Mercy! Doesn't that woman look in the mirror before she walks out the door????

Until the next time......

i think mobama is not a model so i wouldn't think she would look anything like the stick figure standing next to her
mobama has a diff body type ... wearing a belt may not be good for her, actually, the picture is not a good one for either of them but i can tell that compared to women of colour bruni has no shape ...

comparing them is useless ... models do things to look like models ... mobama is an every-woman ...

i love that she is taking risks and wearing both inexpensive and the over the top ... she rocks ...

Let me guess, you are a WHITE person who is upset to have a BLACK First Lady in the WHITE House.

Natural born goddess? You have got to be kidding! LOL Only a WHITE person would think Carla Bruni is a goddess! To the rest of us, she's just another overrated, homely, skinny, White chick with a flat behind. LOL I personally don't expect White people to find MO attractive. Just like most Blacks don't find Kate Moss, Cheryl Tiegs, Cindy Crawford, Christie Brinkley, Drew Barrymore, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kristen Dunst, Jennifer Aniston, Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, etc., attractive. Halle Berry, Angela Bassette, Tina Turner, Iman, Beyonce, Naomi Campbell, Beverly Johnson, and Tyra Banks are all more beautiful than Ms. Bruni. And, the other above mentioned White models and actresses. The standard for beauty and fashion style isn't the same for Whites and Blacks. Never has been and never will be.

I'm white and I think Carla Bruni looks like a washed-out plain Jane girl-next-door. Nothing special about her looks. MO may have missed the fashion mark with her belt worn too high, but she's by far more attractive than the used-to-be fashion model standing next to her.
