There's nothing the fashion world loves more than reinvention, and this month, the classic casual standard -- khaki -- is getting a high-end summer kick off.

Gap Design Edition -- now in its third year -- was created to introduce CFDA winners to a wider audience, to reinvent an American classic and to offer luxurious, limited edition designs at wallet-friendly prices.

This year, womenswear designers Alexander Wang (above), Vena Cava's Lisa Mayock and Sophie Buhai and accessories designer Albertus Swanepoel were presented with the honor and challenge of reinterpreting the khaki, and they delivered. We want every piece!

The collections will be available in US flagship stores and on gap.com starting June 16th. Prices range from $39.50 to $88, so we can have them all! A word of advice: Avoid khaki overkill by not wearing them simultaneously!

Wang's outerwear is at the top of our list, while Vena Cava's dresses (below) are to die for.

The Gap better do something. There's nothing in that store they could even give me for free. The sad part is that years ago they actually had quality clothing. American Eagle outfitters is the same way. They once had good stuff but now sell "trash" and want big bucks for it.

I agree with Dave!!!! I don't need the GAP to tell me it’s ok to wear Kakis again... Rehashing old trends is not fashionable or stylish... It’s lazy, uninspiring and irresponsible to their shareholders!!!! EXPRESS and BUCKLE might be getting over done but at least they are creating!!!!

The only problem with this at this particular point in time is the current designer movement away from pleated slacks. For those of us who like pleats and look better in pleats than flat front pants, they are taking products we buy and like to wear entirely off the market. I like pleats in my khakis and I don't care what some stick-figure of a designer who's twenty-something thinks of that. And we all know it's a fad or trend and will be over in a year or two anyway. Designers should not be allowed to make such sweeping decisions for everyone. Where's the freemarket in that?

Sorry, but NO ONE looks "better" in pleats. Not no one, not no how. Some people might be able to "pull it off"...but those people are few and far between. Same for the skinny jeans or Peg Legs (or whatever they're calling them now). I think you have the idea backwards. Only rail thin people can really pull off pleats or peg legs. Pleats make everybody else look look like they've got an intertube around their gut, even if they don't. If you think pleats disguise bulges think again; they only accentuate them. Maybe you're just more comfortable in pleated pants? That's fine. But don't kid yourself that they look better. They don't. Not to mention how incredibly out of fashion they are anyways. Flat front pants are much more universally appealing for all body types. I personally wish they would stop trying to bring back all of thse styles that don't look good on 98% of people!
