Susan Boyle is Back! And You'll Barely Recognize Her

A much more polished Susan Boyle.

As you may recall, "Britain's Got Talent" sensation Susan Boyle became just as famous for her voice as she did for her fashion and beauty choices -- or lack thereof.

But it looks like she's finally undergone the full makeover people anticipated since she first shocked the show's judges and audience with her unexpected singing abilities!

Just goes to prove, you can't judge a book by its cover, nor a Boyle by her brow.

Boyle has been out of the public eye since finishing a disappointing second on BGT, which prompted her to check into a mental health clinic.

Her health -- and career future -- were uncertain until she gave her first interview this morning on the "TODAY" show looking fabulous.

Back in April, Boyle took the first step with what appeared to be an eyebrow wax. But now, she's gone even further and dyed those newly groomed brows (and her formerly salt and pepper hair) a warm, flattering brown.

She also has defined her eyes with shadow and liner, perked up her cheeks with some blush and colored her lips a bright berry shade.

And of course, the crowning glory is her new 'do -- a short layered crop and smooth blowout (quite a change from those overly poufy curls).

Susan, we approve!

She looks absoluty beautiful, violet looks good on her.
Your article is fine but you miss a big peace of information. After finishing second in BGT she did the tour
with oustanding ovations from young and old.It was a sell out
because of her. I have been watching the videos and she performed and sang very ,very well, she has got a powerfull stage presence and comunicate with her audience incredible well. After the tour she started to record her first album which is predicted to be a Number 1. Now she is doing this interview with NBC and is having a spread on Harper's Bazaar magazine. All of this look very impresive in my book, don't you
think? Susan is a professional singer now, as she always wanted. Go on Susan live your dream..I will be buying her CD,DVD here in Australia and as soon as Susan perform live in Ingland I will be there.

Taking care of elderly parents for years does not leave a lot of time or incentive to be glamorous. How nice to see that she can now join the real world and tend to herself just like the rest of us do! I wish I could "brush up" like that!

I, for one, despite my love of fashion and beauty, do not like Susan's new look. To me, she has lost a part of her essential self. Those bushy eyebrows, her salt and pepper hair, even her somewhat unruly hairstyle...those were a part of her as a humble and talented woman. I think fashion just pushes and pushes and pushes women to be more of this or that. It is a CONSTANT and unremitting BARRAGE that starts in early childhood: you are too short, too fat, too skinny, your hair is not right, your eyes are not right, your hands or feet are not right....It continues ad nauseum. Where does one stop all this?? I think Susan was just fine with the way she was. I pray that she will hold tight to her Scot roots and not allow these fashion demands to invade her soul. I think many of us are absolutely starving for REAL people: not tummy-tucked, not shaved all over to be hairless, not fake breast implanted, not shaped by Hollywood. I cannot stand all this fakery. I will take a real person any day, complete with scars and bumps and bruises from the challenges of life, to a falsely smooth-faced 50 year old desperately trying to be 20 again. No manner of "stuff" will make that happen. Take good care of yourself, yes, take care of your body and your face, yes, keep as fit and healthy as you can, yes, but DO NOT SUBMIT YOUR SOUL TO THE DEMANDS OF THE SHALLOW WORLD.
I am almost 57 and I value every line and every scar on my entire body, because that is part of my parents blend that made me, and it is a map of where I have gone in this life. I am aiming for Eternity with Jesus Christ, not obsessing on youth.
Just my opinion...however likely to be in the minority.

Wendy,I understand what you mean but in Susan case you need to remenber that she was always bullied and put down by some people in her village for the way she looked.
It has to be very painful for her to be bullied, laught at and ridiculized all over again by all this people who think they are better because they look better. She just put on same make up and a beautiful dress, there is nothing wrong with it . She is beautiful and wants to look beautiful and I am sure that what she want with all this make over is for people to stop talking about her appearance and concentrate in her talent, which is big. From now on, everybody will know that she is actually beautiful, elegant and clasy so she can move on with her career. I am sure that this is all that Susan will do in this matter. She is still herself and will never change from the inside. You talked about Jesus, so have a bit of understanding and be happy for her, she is finally doing what she always wanted to do and I am very happy for her.

Ms. Boyle is a woman, and now a professional singer. She is allowed makeup and hair styling and anything she likes to make herself feel comfortable and feminine. She is such an original, there is no danger of her becoming plastic. Her new do is exceptional and accentuates her natural beauty.

Susan,

You don't need anyone's approval on anything. What is good for you, in your heart, is what is best ! You make your parents, and siblings, proud. You are a beautiful person and I am thrilled for you and your success. Your angelic voice and bubbly personality will take you wherever you want to go. Good luck to you on your life journey and may God bless you and keep you wherever your journey takes you. Can't wait for your CD ! I love your look no matter what.

Hi Lena
Thanks for your input to my comments about the beauty and fashion pressures. I was in no way denigrating Susan Boyle. I am aware of what difficulties she went through in her youth and was only commenting that I hope she will endeavor through all this, to maintain her essential self. I am not against self improvement, I just want such a humble and shining lady as Susan to maintain her core soul. Her talent is formidable and she does not need that much to improve her appearance. There is such a fine line with all this makeover stuff and there are some very pushy people in the fashion and beauty business that can just overwhelm someone like Susan. She has already commented on the large pressures of sudden fame. I genuinely wish her all the best and am indeed very very happy for her singing dreams coming to fruition after all her labors for others. I pray that she sticks close to her cultural roots and her faith roots as well.

It is interesting that so many people see Ms. Boyle as somehow defenceless, child like, and vulnerable. She seems to trigger a kind of collective mothering response from many new fans. It is understandable because her Cinderella story is part of the excitement of her talent discovery. BUT, she has one of the toughest people in the biz...simon crowell, a family of 9 siblings, an entertainment lawyer for a niece, and good friends, all available to her for input and direction. Because she has had 47 years of obscurity, it is more of a plus than a minus. Susan has already demonstrated that if she needs to get away from the spotlight, or to rest, that is exactly what she does. Her habit of doing what she wants when she wants will benefit this new found fame. It's been a relief to see how even Simon is thoughtful enough to be considerate of her needs rather than the other way around. Piers Morgan understood Boyles genius from the beginning. Give the woman credit for all the hard earned work and self preservation she has maintained during her life. A little hair dye, styling, and a few swipes of the make-up brush on stage is not going to turn her into a Dolly Parton. And even if it did, she has her magnificant voice and fun personality. It's show biz, and she wants a piece of it.
