Shoppers, mark your calendars! On Thursday, September 10th, the first day of New York Fashion Week, designers, editors, makeup mavens, hair gurus, and models won't just be focused on the impending runway shows. They'll all be making personal appearances far and wide to participate in a global initiative to stimulate retail growth and reinvigorate consumers.

The worldwide affair, dubbed Fashion's Night Out, is being organized by the CFDA and Vogue (plus a smattering of its international editions). Here in Manhattan, in conjunction with NYC & Company and the City of New York, over 300 retailers --including everyone from Macy's to Michael Kors and Balenciaga to Banana Republic -- are keeping their doors open until 11 p.m.

Just who will be out and about, one wonders? Look for Alexander Wang giving catwalking lessons at Barneys! Donna Karan, Carolina Herrera and Bobbi Brown helping shoppers at Saks! Isaac Mizrahi signing cabaret at Bergdorf Goodman while Padma Lakshmi cooks!

Additionally, to honor the Big Apple, the limited edition T-shirt seen here is also being sold as select stores. Forty percent of its proceeds will benefit the National September 11 Memorial and Museum at The World Trade Center.
