Shoshanna Lonstein is a NYC born and bred designer that discovered a serious need in the over-saturated bathing suit market, and made herself a huge success when she filled it. Her niche: Swimsuits for the fuller-figured woman, with built-in support like boning in bikini tops, and the (ingenious and overdue) practice of selling bikini tops and bottoms separately.

Hey, let's be honest. How many times have you "accidentally" brought a smaller/larger top than bottom to the counter, only to be oh-so-helpfully corrected by the salesperson? Problem solved! Because, hellooo, designers, women come in a zillion shapes and sizes and bikini shopping is heinous enough already.

Big trends for summer '09, according to Shoshanna herself? "Hot pinks, lime greens and floral prints are everywhere right now. Also look for sexy hardware details like bamboo, gold links, and beads." And what's her favorite style? "Sweet yet sexy. A gingham print bikini is perfect for the beach."

Finding the right fit is key. She suggests mixing and matching bikini tops and bottoms, bearing in mind that if you are larger on the bottom, a plain, dark color with a colorful top to draw the eye up is an excellent trick. Another tip: Choose a string bikini bottom so that the fit is adjustable.

I agree with the comment above regarding differnt figures. All the same. It is difficult finding an bikini to fit properly if you are very large on top such as a D-cup and small botom.
