Who Rocked the Beauty Trend?
From hippie-chic hair to daring fuchsia lips, celebs can either stumble or shine. Check out these star photos as New York Makeup Artist Laura Geller and Hair Stylist Amy Abramite of Chicago's Maxine Salon weigh in on who rocked the trend and who fell short. By Melissa Goldberg

Trend: Volume
"Beyonce's look is way too 80's retro. The volume is out of proportion with her features, which makes her face look too small," says Abramite. Jennifer Aniston instead combines moderate volume with soft, billowy waves for a sexy lifted look that works.

Trend: Fuchsia Lips
The key to wearing vibrant lip color is to allow it to take center stage. While Paris overloads on fuchsia from head to toe, "Jessica's makeup is so natural that her bold lip and touch of blush is balanced and beautiful," says Geller.

Trend: Center Part
"It's difficult to pull off a middle part with a ponytail without it looking like Marcia Brady," says Abramite of Megan Fox's too-long, too-flat extensions. "Kim Kardashian's look works because she curled the hair away from her face with some lift at the part, creating an ultra soft sexiness."

Trend: Bronzed Goddess
When choosing bronzer, look for a sheer shade that compliments your undertone. "Vanessa Williams' bronzer is too red, so it doesn't blend into her skin. Alicia Keyes has a gorgeous glow – her bronzer is sheer and not caked on or obviously powdery," says Geller.

Trend: Hippie-Chic Hair
"Mischa Barton is wearing her headband like an athletic sweatband, not a fashion accessory. It abruptly cuts off the flow of the whole style. Nicole Ritchie is wearing the band in the right place, and tilted diagonally back so it's moving away from the face. It flows with ease and compliments her soft layers which are moving in the same direction," says Abramite.

Trend: Nude Lip
The key thing with nude lips is balance. "Mary Kate Olsen is wearing such a dark kohl eye that the nude lips look too light," says Geller. While Heidi Klum sports a lightly defined eye, she also warms up her cheeks with bronzer for an overall beautiful, natural look.

Trend: Super Straight Hair
"Rachel Bilson's long hair is flat ironed pin straight, which is pulling her features down and eliminating movement from her style. Debra Messing's hair is also flat ironed to create smoothness, but with the edges slightly beveled under to give movement and softness to her face framing layers," says Abramite.

Trend: Bangs
One quality makes bangs sexy: movement. "Jessica Alba's bangs don't work for her face because they're too blunt, immobile and heavy-looking. Reese Witherspoon's bangs are full with the right amount of soft layers on the edges to make them perfectly wispy," says Abramite.

Trend: Blonde Ambition
"The key to going very blonde is combining a variety of hues to compliment your skin tone, like Kelly Ripa. This creates dimension and movement. Heather Locklear's overprocessed hair lacks shine and depth. It's also too light for her skin tone, which washes her out," says Abramite.
