These days, online sample sales are the way to go -- you can shop from home, pass time at work and avoid those crazy lines.

But sometimes even discounted luxury goods are hard to justify. Website Gilt Groupe -- the host of online sample sales for designers such as Alexander McQueen, Zac Posen and Rachel Roy -- feels your pain. And in turn is launching Gilt Fuse, which will feature a mix of less expensive contemporary brands.

Debuting August 12 at noon ET, the sibling site will offer sales of up to 70 percent off retail from brands including Kova & T, BCBG and Plenty by Tracy Reese. Each designer's sale will last for 36 hours.

"We recognized that there is a need in the flash sale category to offer fashionable, contemporary brands at significant discounts. A large portion of our Gilt membership is looking for effortless, everyday fashions that don't stretch their budget," Gilt Groupe's chief executive officer, Susan Lyne, explains.

Access to Gilt Fuse will be by invitation-only, but current members of Gilt Groupe will be granted entrée.
