SoCal surf brand Quiksilver has teamed up with über trendy hotel chain The Standard for a very George Jetson-worthy collaboration.

On August 8, meet the first-ever boardshort/bikini vending machine, which will sell The Standard Boardshorts ($75) -- a reissue of Quiksilver's classic trunks from the Seventies and Eighties, with a modern twist, of course -- and women's Quiksilver bikinis. (Sure beats a pack of gum!)

The hip hotel's Downtown LA hot spot will be the first to house the futuristic answer to "forgetting your bathing suit." The machine will be conveniently located poolside, so say bye-bye to fully clothed lounging and hello to the gym.

The short-o-matic will offer four different designs, each inspired by one of the The Standard's corresponding locations: New York, Los Angeles (Downtown LA and Hollywood) and Miami.

Like all futuristic gadgets, the machine won't just dispense cool fashion, but function, too. The shorts are made of a lightweight, quick-dry fabric and come in an odor resistant, packable pouch for convenient post-swim transport.

Plus, each pair includes legendary skater and Quiksilver creative director, Natas Kaupas' "Quik Tips City Guide" -- a well-edited compilation of suggested destinations and addresses based on the hotel location/style chosen.

For those unable to make it to one of The Standard's pools, the swimwear will also be sold online at Shop The Standard and at The Standard Boutiques.
