Supermodels Go Without Makeup in September Issue of Harper's Bazaar

In Harper Bazaar's latest Fall Fashion issue, the magazine asked eight of the most iconic Nineties supermodels -- Amber Valletta, Shalom Harlow, Kristen McMenamy, Helena Christensen, Nadja Auermann, Cindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer and Tatjana Patitz -- to wash off the makeup and go au naturale for Peter Lindbergh's lens.

Perhaps not a huge surprise, even with a few wrinkles here and there, they all still look supremely gorgeous -- especially 43-year-old Crawford.

Her anti-aging secret? "Women forget to take care of their décolletage, and it shows their age," she tells the magazine, adding that she protects her chest and complexion with her own skincare line with Jean-Lous Sebagh, Meaningful Beauty.

"Your hair texture changes as you age; mine used to be a lot more smooth," says Crawford. "I use Moroccanoil Treatment to keep it hydrated."

    Claudia Schiffer, 39
"What I eat affects my skin," says Schiffer. "Anything that's heavy, like dairy or sweets breaks out my complexion and it doesn't look as fresh. When I stopped eating dairy, my skin looked nicer."

    Helena Christensen, 40
"After I get the microdermabrasion and green-tea facial, my skin feels unbelievably soft and dewy," says Christensen of her favorite services at Christine Chin Spa in New York City.

Schiffer, on the other hand, said that cutting dairy out of her diet helped her skin look its best. "Fresh carrot or apple juice and water with lemon and ginger help give my skin a healthy look," she says.

Harlow also looks to the fridge for her beauty fix. "I love putting yogurt and egg whites on my face," she confesses. "It's so moisturizing and soothing."

Is that all? Where are pics of the other four models? Were only the eight of them asked or were more asked, but the rest turned them down?

O my,what the wonders of make-up will do for you models! Im sorry but if all of you look at Cindy Crawford's lips, I say some serious collagen injection has been going on up there!!Seriously, for you models who claim nothing has been done to enhance your younger appearance or facial features, you need to just be honest with yourself and the public because it's obvious something's been done cosmetically!!! CiIndy stop doing collagen on your lips, it doesn't fit your face ! It looks like it hurts! Im the first to admit, some of us are either naturally pretty without make-up and some of us, including myself, need make-up!!! Put the make-up back on,you sell better that way!!!

Emma,
So... you "Even tried getting a gym membership?"
Lady, did you actually use the membership, that is the only way it will work.
Here's the ugly truth...as we age, our lean body mass decreases, thus lowering our metabolism. It's not impossible to combat.
What you do...
1. Take your weight loss berries and flush them down your toilet along with any diet pills you may have
2. Go to the gym.
3.Do resistance training (this is simply using weight training) LADIES, THIS WILL NOT MAKE YOU BULKY, THAT'S A MYTH. Resistance training WILL increase your lean body mass so that you burn more calories
4. If you don't know how to use the equipment, invest in a
personal trainer. At least to get you started. I have seen a lot of overweight people sweating on treadmills and stair-climbers. Cardio wokouts alone won't cut the fat.
5. Go on a sensible diet that includes mostly plant-products. Try to cut down on red meats. You will need more protein from other sources as your body can't digest the proteins in red meat as well as other proteins (ie; Fish, Legumes, Egg Whites, Raw nuts, Soy or a number of mock meats made of vegetable protein). Raw fruits and vegetables are important as are whole grains like brown rice or Oatmeal. Drink plenty of water.
Beware of foods that are labeled at Light or Diet; may contain a sweetener called, Fructose or High Fructose Corn Syrup. The verdict is still out on this additive. I think the worst aspect is that your body can't digest it properly due to it's processing.
Bottom line, there is not Quick Fix to weight loss. It will require some work and dedication. Trust me, stick with it for about a year and you will be amazed. You will be lean, healthy and full of energy. You'll never want to quit your gym membership. Invest in your health first.

Well, you should still look good when the oldest is 43, without make up...it does enhance your looks, if applied properly...Use women 50 and older without make up and see how they look.

IT IS TOTALY PATHETIC HOW THE COSMETIC INDUSTRY MANAGES TO CONVINCE THE TODAYS WOMAN WITH THE ABSURDITY THEY ""LOOK BETTER"" WITH ALL THAT PAINT IN THEIR FACES, EYES AND NAILS----NO NEED FOR IT---IF YOUR FACE IS NOT WHAT IS CALLED BEAUTIFUL, (AND GOD KNOWS WERE SUCH APPRAISAL COMES FROM)NO COSMETIC STUPIDITY WILL CHGANGE IT--BESIDES EACH ONE OF US ARE BEAUTIIFUL--beauty is in the eyes of the behold AND NOT IN THE HANDS OF A INDUSTRY WHO IS FOOLING THE AMERICAN WOMAN AND MAKING BILLIONS FOR DOING IT.

WNAT A GOOD SKIN ?? SLEEP WELL, EAT WELL, HAVE GOOD THOUGHTS IN YOUR MIND AT ALL TIMES. IT IS "WHAT YOU HAVE IN YOUR HEART THAT MAKES YOU BEAUTIFUL.

I'm a clever advertiser who is reaching out to new marks via the magic of the internet! Market research shows that people who frequent news sites that pop up when loading an instant messaging service will believe almost anything. The philosophical or ethical concerns about this are irrelevant, because I'm in this to make money! That's why I choose Brand Name Product (TM).

I make up an impossible-to-verify-or-refute story that I know my (potentially) gullible audience will relate to, sympathize with, and attempt to model! Then I talk about how Brand Name Product (TM) Changed My Life Forever! (also TM), knowing that inspiring a sense of hope, whether real or imagined, will greatly increase sales!

This kind of grass-roots, probably ineffectual marketing scheme is making me very wealthy, yet (probably) unsatisfied with my life! I will continue to pursue this lifestyle anyway, because I find utility in being richer than my target audience!

Brand Name Product (TM). It Might Make You Popular! (Trademark Pending)

As my Dad would tell me constantly, if you want to lose weight, you have to eat less, and exercise more. You have to burn up more than you eat. There are NO short cuts that will work in the long run. Of course, having diabetes now is a real motivater.

As far as these gorgeous models go, I prefer women that don't use makeup, and allow their natural beauty to shine. I hope more models follow their path of going completely natural.

LMFAO ... I suppose what they mean by natural is the photos are black and white. I doubt seriously these faces are not touch up with some kind of makeup, but even if they aren't, the photos have be touched up. What a joke. Without makeup means standing at the kitchen counter in the morning fixing coffee before getting ready for the day. Those photos of super models you will never see.

Good thing us men don't have to worry 'bout that stuff. Just live rugged and true, let the lines show, maybe shave or not, just don't get fat, keep a smile and glint in the eye. Oh, and a healthy bank account helps.

That's great that they posed for a photo shoot without make-up but anyone who has photoshop or uses picnik knows that these photo's have been airbrushed which makes any face look good. Nice try models. You can fool some of the people, but not the ones with computer artistry knowledge.

I met Helena Christiansen and Claudia Schiffer years ago when they were on my flight (I was the flight attendant on duty) I would never have recognized them if it weren't for the passenger list. Claudia was very very pale and skinny, not at all pretty and Helena looked like any other woman in the airport. Airbrushing works wonders, even these photos are touched up with shadows and lights.
