Didn't Anna Wintour say flats are back? Jennifer Connelly is challenging that theory in the October issue of InStyle UK.

The smoldering actress, who is good friends with Balenciaga designer Nicolas Ghesquiere (we're extremely jealous!), gets to play dress up in Balenciaga for the cover of the magazine, the accompanying fashion editorial and the fashion house's ad campaigns, in which she stars.

While the she opts for a Grecian-meets-futuristic draped dress and lace bandeau bralet from Balenciaga's Fall '09 collection for the cover, the inside spread shows a black-clad Connelly in a nouveau Goth getup.


This consists of a loosely knitted Balenciaga dress with a sexy cutout back and shiny gravity defying platform booties by Olivier Theysken for Nina Ricci that are so sky-high, at a towering eight inches, that the heel doesn't even touch the floor!

Think you could walk in these suckers? We'd certainly like to request a sample and try. For the sake of research, of course.
