With her husband's fat soccer contract and her own ventures to pad her wallet, we never figured Victoria Beckham to be much of a recessionista. But from what she says in the new October issue of Elle, turns out we were wrong (well, sort of).

"Would I think twice about buying a dress that costs $2,000? Yeah! Of course I would," she tells the fashion magazine in the article accompanying her fierce retro-style cover (an alternate newsstand cover shows her going full-on futuristic). "I'd try it on and go home and think about it before I bought it."

Well isn't that sensible! In the wonderful fashion spread to follow, the über-posh Brit does her fair share of trying on expensive (we're guessing $2,000+) dresses, including a cinched-waist version from her own label and a puffy ballerina-worthy gown by Valentino.

She also dons a to-die-for high-waisted retro bikini by Diane von Furstenberg paired with a matching hat and towering Nina Ricci heels.,feedConfig,entry&id=714644&pid=714643&uts=1252451177

Spoiled? Never! Posh gets her beauty rest on a plush couch in a ballerina-esque gown by Valentino and eye mask (pushed back on forehead) by Linder Sterling for Richard Nicoll.

In the exclusive interview, the 35-year-old mother of three also confronts the rumors about her boob reduction ("We should just not talk about each other's boobs.") and her seemingly icy coldness.

"People think I'm a moody bitch. I do have my insecurities. Maybe that is why I look a little bit serious," she says. "The kind of person who's going to stand on the red carpet and love the attention and have the big grin -- I'm just not like that. I want to get in there, do what I've got to do, and get home to my kids."

And home to her DVR. "I've done Nip/Tuck, Brothers & Sisters, Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice," she says. "Then I got into Gossip Girl. I'm beyond obsessed with that show."

Wow. She's just like us! Until... "I find it odd that people will go to a nice restaurant or to theater in jeans and T-shirts. You know, it's great, David loves it. But it's very different to my personal style," she says. "There are celebrities who always look great, always look pretty, but it's always the same hair, the same makeup, and I find that quite boring. I want to change it up, do something really creative. I think that might be why women like me."
