After conquering Britain as hosts of the original "What Not to Wear" (well before Clinton Kelly and Stacy London were a twinkle in TLC's eyes), no-nonsense fashion gurus Trinny Woodall and Susannah Constantine have set their sights on us Yanks for their new TLC fashion makeover show, "Making Over America with Trinny and Susannah," which debuted two weeks ago.

Glamming up the United States one closet at a time, the duo's show has them meeting with the style-challenged, researching their day-to-day home and career routines, and building a chic new wardrobe that suits their bodies and lifestyles to a T.

Along the way, they'll don costumes, crack jokes and reveal their secrets for looking flawless at any size as they chug along in an Airstream trailer. (Hey, it beats watching Jon and Kate fight over juice boxes.)

We interviewed Trinny-frantically packing for a whirlwind press tour-to learn more about what she and her chic cohort Susannah have in store for us. She also spilled many of her sartorial secrets, so pay attention, ladies!

StyleList: Did you notice a difference in the way British and American women dress?

Trinny Woodall: No. It's all about the stage where you are in life. You could live in Arkansas, New York City, Manchester, England... It makes more of a difference whether you live in a sophisticated metropolis or in the country. Another factor impacting style that I have noticed is women who have become insecure, whether through aging or having babies and seeing their bodies change. They start to feel "less than," and start comparing themselves to other women. That's international.

StyleList: You and Susannah have made over countless women. Have you ever met someone and thought that the task ahead of you was impossible?

TW: We've never met a woman where we think "It can't be done." Probably the hardest women to dress are those cases where it takes a while to get an idea of their shapes, especially if their bodies are disproportionate in size (say, a size 12 top with a size 8 bottom).

StyleList: Give us an idea of your makeover process.

TW: Susannah and I are very regimented in our approach so once we know a woman's body shape we go from there. Then we determine her environment, what she can afford to spend, her level of sophistication. Once we're in the dressing room with her we'll start with something that's really out there to see what she can handle. If we give her something safe to begin with, she'll reject it from the start. This way we can find a happy medium.

StyleList: Shape seems to be an important factor in nailing the right style.

TW: We've dealt with all different shapes of women. Once a woman figures out that these shapes suit her, she can go out and put blinkers on when she shops.

StyleList: What trends are on your radar for fall?

TW: I hate trends, but I love fashion. Basically, it's about looking at the trends and figuring how out to make it work for your body. For example, the 1940s trend. A Victoria Beckham-inspired dress would work for a curvy woman with lots of tits and ass, but I might add a belt or do something to make it my own. Getting something (like a belt) made of sequins is another way to look current this season. A lot of trends are about color, whether it's yellow or plum. Women need to tell themselves, 'I can wear this color,' but they have to find the right shade for their complexion. It's a great way to stay trendy.

StyleList: What are three things every woman should own?

TW: 1) A great bra. We did a study once and found that 94% of the women we studied had the wrong bra on. When we get them a bra in the right size, most women feel like they lost a dress size. 2) The right jeans. Many women are pear-shaped and tend to wear jeans that are too loose. They need to focus on what jeans will re-proportion their body. 3) A right-fit jacket. So many women buy these boxy, shapeless jackets. I always tell them to buy a jacket one size too small to get the right fit.

StyleList: First Lady Michelle Obama has been running around in shorts lately. What do you think of this look?

TW: Shorts are practically a uniform in every woman's closet. Tailored shorts are okay for running around, and if you're 18 you can get away with cut-offs. But it's very easy to make a mistake with shorts.

StyleList: What's the one take-home tip you want viewers to walk away with?

TW: To up the ante -- so many women have let themselves go. It's easy to take a woman and give her this glamorous makeover, but with our show we are trying to be practical, which is why we take people to Wal-Mart, and the local hairdresser. I really want women who watch the show to think, "I can do that."

"Making Over America with Trinny and Susannah" airs 10/9 Central Friday nights on TLC.

I had been overweight for the past five years. I had tried almost everything in the market, right from taking diet pills to enrolling in a gym but nothing really worked. Yes I did lose a few pounds but nothing substantial. It was then that a friend recommended Acai Burn ( http://cli.gs/AcaiBurn ) to me. I have been using the product for about a month now and have slimmed down considerably. I have actually started to wear all those dresses that I had put off for so long. The product is definitely one of the best weight loss products in the market today. I have already finished two bottles of Acai Burn and am on my third bottle now. It totally changed my life! Not only did I lose a lot of weight quickly, I have also never felt more energetic and so full of life!

I have always been very afraid of aging, you know, becoming old and useless and unattractive. When I turned 50, I decided to do something about it. I've spent fortunes on face creams and anti-aging serums… but using GenFX is the first time I've tried turning back the clock from the inside out. It's also the last time I'll spend a fortune on face creams! Now everyone says I look 35! www.antiaginggenfx.com

If you're lucky you don't know what it's like to be the "fat friend", well that was me, and it isn't fun. I tried everything you ever heard of in an attempt to lose weight. I went through those scam acai berry "diet" pills, none of which work, and lost nothing but money. I never gave up trying and about 6 months ago I discovered Grow Lean, ( http://cli.gs/GrowLean ) It is unlike anything else I ever tried before and it actually helps you burn fat, as well as make you look younger. Anyway, I started losing weight rapidly and now I'm the one getting the compliments when we all go out. What a life changer that has been.

I sometimes find Clinton's and Stacy's clothing unpractical, however I find the English gals fashion just plain dowdy

Why the hell won't AOL shut down these people that post ads in the comment sections? It's annoying as hell to have to scroll through 6 or 8 of these damn things before you get to a real comment.

Trinny and Susanna have a different approach than Stacy and Clinton. I like both shows and I liked the original WNTW with T&S. I do wish that Stacy would address the bra issue more with their makeovers because some of them clearly have no clue.

Wanda, I couldn't agree with you more. I wish there was someone to police these blogs and keep the advertising out that is not paid for. Possibly fine these folks. It is so irritating. If you arn't going to blog about the original article-don't waste all of our time!
