Runway Review - Zero + Maria Cornejo

DESIGNER: Zero + Maria Cornejo
TOP LOOKS: Off-white sweater biker-jacket with cut out shoulders; drop-crotch jumpsuits in washed silk and poly, the Modern pin-up silhouette in an asymmetrical bandeau and slim pencil skirt; bright blue and white digital photo wave print in slouchy silk dresses and separates
ACCESSORIES: Eileen Shields for Maria Cornejo wedge sandals and open toe booties. The not-too-high-heel screams practical, for Cornejo's thinking girls who never suffer too much for fashion. Saltamacchia provided shaved wood neck and arm cuffs which the girls wore like nonchalant sculpture.
WHO WAS THERE: The downtown fashion-intelligentsia came out for their girl... husband and photographer Mark Borthwick, jewelry designer Waris Ahluwalia, Purple-editor Olivier Zahm, photographer Sheila Metzner and her son
WHAT WE THOUGHT: Urbanites and artists will appreciate this collection for its interesting clothes that are also flattering to the form. Cornejo's thoughtful approach - based on the elements of nature - includes loosely draped dresses and jumpsuits that are wearable and easy for day or night.
