Not Buying Luxury Goods? Blame Guilt
Guilty shopper? Photo: Antony Nagelmann/VEER
Gulp. You may be experiencing the latest shopping symptom: Buyer's guilt.
Guilt, it seems, is seriously hurting sales when it comes to the luxury market, reports the Wall Street Journal.
In fact, according to at least one executive, it's the number one thing keeping people from shopping right now.
So, how do stores get folks to move past their guilt and take the plunge?
Some brands, the WSJ says, are offering charity donations with purchase. Others are trying to grow buzz by an increased online presence or by opening pop-up shops (temporary stores that are open for just a few weeks or months), the story states.
Will charity incentives or new marketing tactics help ease your shopping guilt? Leave a comment below!
And read up on other pop-up stores.

Agabhumi has been practicing what we call, "Retailing with a conscience" since we launched our brand 7 years ago! We designed jewelry from which we donate 30% of sales to the Bennett Cancer Center Mobile Mamography Unit of Stamford Hospital, Stamford, CT. We also designed a line of jewelry to raise awareness for Organ Donorship (my husband is a liver transplant recipient) and 30% of sales of this line go to research at Columbia University for transplant research. In addition, we contribute to various schools and animal welfare with benefit nights.
AND, btw, a woman SHOULD feel guilty about wasting $1,000 on a handbag!
