Cult-favorite fragrance brand Demeter (known for their cheeky scents like Dirt, Gin & Tonic, and Sex On The Beach) is still going strong after 13 years.

In fact, while other perfume brands struggle to make sales, Demeter is actually expanding.

They recently launched the Sephora-exclusive Vintage Naturals collection (a 100% natural fragrance line) and most recently announced distribution into over 175 Duane Reade locations.

So what's Demeter's secret to success?

"For one, our fragrances are fabulous," CEO Mark Crames told StyleList. "If we didn't make great smells we wouldn't be here."

Demeter's scents are meant to conjure up memories and personal experiences, which is why they are so specific. For instance, one of Demeter's most popular scents is Baby Powder because, "It has all positive connotations."

One of Crames' personal faves is Patchouli because "with the right ingredients you don't get that dirty dry-down."

And two, Demeter is affordable -- Duane Reade will carry 1 oz. cologne sprays for $14.99. Crames said this is a priority for him because he wants people to use fragrance every day.

"A great smell shouldn't have to wait until Saturday night."
