Kate Moss Slammed by Eating Disorder Group for 'Pro-Anorexia' Comment

Like children, sometimes supermodels are better seen than heard.

Especially when they serve up bon mots like: "Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels," which, Kate Moss (he epitome of waif), admitted was her motto in a recent interview with WWD.

Now, Moss -- last seen teaching eight-year-olds how to model -- is being slammed by eating disorder experts who feel that her comments were "pro-anorexia," Reuters reports.

The model's slogan of choice has been featured on pro-anorexia Websites -- to the dismay of eating disorder organizations like Beat.

"It's one that's used so prominently and so obviously in connection with pro-anorexic websites," Susan Ringwood, Beat's chief executive, told Reuters.

"We know she is a person who young people look up to, she's such a style icon, they are very interested in her life, they follow all the details of it.

"So for her to even inadvertently legitimize something that could be potentially so harmful is regrettable," Ringwood adds.

Um, Kate... how's that foot taste?

What do you think of Moss' skinny comment? Leave a comment!

It's not necessarily how much we eat but WHAT we eat. Like someone here said, his kid looking at his wife's yearbook asking about the fat kids. Did people suddenly start pigging out in 20 years time? No. It's something in the FOOD. Namely, barely any nutrients due to companies making food just a lotta nothing so they make more money and the plastics holding the food contain endocrine-disrupting chemicals. It's the FOOD COMPANIES that are to blame people. WAKE UP!!!

Yes, you're right but I also think if you don't know eating McDonald's every day will make you fat then there's a problem..everything in moderation and exercise, there are certain people who take medications that put weight on them but the majority of people just don't exercise, eat fast food everyday and like you said, the chemicals and empty calories in what's in these foods will put weight on you in no time. Someone else mentioned maybe it was her "cocaine diet" that helps her to stay thin. Believe it or not, there are those of us who can put the fork down when full, push yourself away from the table and go walk for a bit..we are out there..even if I could afford coke, I'll go the healthy route in maintaining a healthy weight..don't think every thin person you see just snorts a line every time we get hungry..those places with all the exercise equipment, trainors, etc.? THose are called gyms and we do use them. I just get so tired of hearing the same old tired snotty comments of oh, must be drugs, etc to help u and people like you to stay thin. Not all of us do that so please don't assume we do.

I've been both, and skinny does feel pretty good...
I see nothing wrong with what she said, its part of her lifestyle and her occupation...
Both of which she chose....lighten up

I've been struggling with weight issues since middle school (I'm 37 now), and I have had the good fortune to have lost 100 lbs. However, I didn't do it the correct way and gained 75 lbs. back. Now I am back on track and only have 35 lbs to go to get to where I need to be.
Food was always my best friend...until it became my worst enemy.
I think Kate's statement is subjective and can be interpreted in a few ways.
I agree with it, in the sense that it's better to be healthy and FEEL healthy than eat that piece of cheese cake.
I admit, being thinner does feel better than being overweight.
THAT'S a no-brainer and I feel that Kate's statement could reflect that many minds.
It's all in how you interpret things!!!

The only ones complaining are the 5' 2" 300 lb waddlers you always see wearing flip-flops, stretch pants and T-shirts that DON'T go all the way to their waist. Those who who are comfortable with their shapes and sizes and are healthy have no problem with it. Only those who KNOW they are unhealthy, BUT lazy are complaining.

Actually Whitney, at 5'8" and 135lbs, your BMI is 20.5. That puts you below the 50th percentile for body mass index. If you or anyone around you considers you overweight, they are delusional. If you don't like your current body proportions, it has nothing to do with your weight.

There really is no "Ideal" shape. Each and every single person on the planet (aside from identical twins) is different from everyone else in some way. To claim that one person is superior to another based on body shape and size is thoroughly ridiculous. As women we need to embrace and accept one another as we are as well as defend one another. I am 33 yrs old, 5'8" and weigh approx 120 lbs, which is the heaviest I have ever been.. I am considered too thin by some and fine by others. I have heard all kinds of insults regarding my weight so I understand how hurtful those words can be. Body image really is a very personal issue and we can't allow others ignorant opinions to get under our skin anymore. Just love yourselves ladies, that is the best gift you can give to yourself.

She has always looked too thin, not healthy and like she needs a shower to me!

For me it's all about portion control and getting some form of daily exercise Over the last 3 years I lost 50 pounds by eating less, avoiding processed foods and walking for at least 20 minutes every day. I also allow myself "treats" and never let myself feel deprived. One cookie won't kill you...a box of oreos followed by a pint of ice cream on the other hand is not the best choice!

Walking is the best exercise and overall toner. My stomach is tighter, my legs and butt are more toned and I simply feel better. It does not require a gym membership, a trainer or any equipment. I wear smartsole exercise insoles http://www.smartsole.com . They are anti cellulite insoles that help you tone muscles, increase circulation and cause you to burn more calories with every step. So you are getting a work out and toning your legs and butt even when just running errands.

I read about them in Prevention mag in an article on exercise shoes and they are a fabulous way to get toned for those of us with crazy schedules. They listed the code jm10 to save 10% off.

The problem is she was teaching 8 year olds how to model! Why a drug addict is teaching children anything is beyond me, but we all know that young girls are especially prone to eating disorders which is why the comment is not appropriate. If she was saying something like eating healthy foods and exercising will keep your body healthy and beautiful -that would be appropriate, but telling 8 year olds that not eating is better than being fat is irresponsible. it's like telling an 8 year old that doing coke is really helpful in not wanting to eat food and staying impossibly thin - anorexia is just as dangerous.

"..As good as skinny feels." huh?

I bet it feels like having sex with a bag of sticks and bones.

One of the best things about girls are the curves! No boobs, no hips- might as well be a fifteen year old boy.

I think the principle is correct. That's what specialists tell you to think- It feels better to be healthy, than to eat that chocolate.

I think the word "skinny" is was is getting everyone riled up. But don't you think we're being oversensitive? And I agree with people before me- we need to be more encouraging of women embracing healthy bodies.

That being said, I do support the integration of a curvier girl as beautiful. Curvy doesn't have to mean fat, or overweight. I don't like the Kate Moss image, and I don't support her, her lifestyle, or her persona.
