At last night's American Music Awards, the fashion wasn't the only thing that caught our attention. Many of our favorite celebs hit the red carpet in statement making makeup.

From Lady Gaga's dark lipstick to Rihanna's wing tip eyeliner to Alicia Keys' regal eyeshadow, these three looks are bold, yet sophisticated.

We love how each diva played up at least one feature--keeping the rest of the face fresh and simple.

Notorious for her outlandish style, it was refreshing to see Gaga in makeup that we would actually mimic. While we're sure RiRi's already remixed her beauty routine, her brightly colored lids and nude lips are "Rated A." And Keys' modern take on a smoky eye with blue eyeshadow plays up her almond eyes and bronzed skin.
