Paging Paula! Lay off the bronzer!
At the American Music Awards on November 22, 2009, Abdul's face appeared to be a different color than her body.
While her chin looks normal, Abdul's cheeks, nose and forehead appeared to be varying degrees of orange.
Her mistake? Coral blush. When paired with bronzer, the orange tones in coral blush become very obvious. The key is to use pink blush, which helps to mimic a naturally sun-kissed flush-- like you were jogging on the beach and got a little sun.

At a charity event in New York City, Kelly Ripa's beach-y glow was a little too authentic - the shimmer in her bronzer highlighted her fine lines and made her face look shiny.
If you have skin that's not completely even - wrinkles, blemishes, etc - opt for a bronzer with a matte finish. Shimmery bronzers will will settle in wrinkles and on breakouts to highlight them.
Another shimmer saboteur? Camera flashes. In this photo, the light from the camera flash reflected off Ripa's sparkly bronzer to make her face appear shiny. So remember, if you're facing the paps, go matte!
Beach or bronzer? The right shade and proper application - a light dusting on the forehead, cheeks, nose and chin - can fool anyone, just like Kate Hudson did at an event in Paris, France.
At the 2009 Emmy Awards, Jamie-Lynn Sigler was dipped in gold-from head to toe.
TIP: When choosing a bronzer shade, go one to two shades darker than your natural skin tone, and that's it.
For a night out in Beverly Hills, Charlize Theron gave her flawless complexion a boost with bronzer - which looks a little too dark for her skin tone. For the most natural looking application, choose a shade that's no more that two shade darker than your skin tone.
Contrary to what many women believe, bronzer can be worn at any age. Case in point: the ever-beautiful Demi Moore glowed at a film screening in Las Vegas with a simple sweep along her cheeks.
TIP: Adding a little pink blush to your bronze look plays up your glow and makes your skin look fresh and alive. Apply it right on the apples, with a big, fluffy powder brush.
At the MTV Movie Awards Lauren Conrad looked a little too bronze. Her face and chest were mismatched-a dead giveaway her glow was faux.
Shenae Grimes has fully embraced her new zip code. The 90210 star looked freshly sun-kissed at a party in Pasadena.
TIP: For a natural looking application, using a big, fluffy powder brush to sweep on bronzer where the sun would naturally hit your face. Start at the temples, then sweep it down along the hairline, and right underneath the cheekbones.
At her April 2009 book signing, Tori Spelling highlighted her sharp cheekbones with a warm bronze glow.
TIP: If you have dry skin, opt for a cream bronzer, and those with oily skin should stick with a power bronzer to absorb excess shine.
At the 2009 Gen Art Film Festival, Jennifer Love Hewitt looked like she just got back from the Caribbean.
