Kiehl's partnered with KAWS, née Brian Donnelly, the creator of OriginalFake, to make a limited edition version of the company's best-selling Creme de Corps featuring the artist's trademark cartoonish graffiti images. One-hundred percent of net profits from the sale of each product will be donated to children's charities around the world.
In the US, the proceeds will go to RxArt, a charity that brings contemporary art to children's hospitals, which KAWS has previously worked with. "I just did a coloring book with them," he told StyleList last evening.
KAWS also decked the halls, literally, designing Kiehl's Peace.Love.Kiehl's holiday window campaign, in addition to three original works that were featured in the store last night and will remain on display through the holiday season.
Additionally, they did a cover and feature piece for Harper's Bazaar Korea, for which KAWS' art graced the cover.
Kiehl's joins a long list of fashionable KAWS collaborators, including with Commes Des Garcons, Marc Jacobs and A Bathing Ape.
"I'm happy to be contributing to something so awesome," said the fresh-faced artist.
When pressed on his favorite Kiehls products, he immediately listed their Ultimate Brushless White Eagle Shaving Cream. "You know, the blue bottle," he specified.
"And I love their lip balm, not that you would know it," he said, sheepishly pointing to his chapped lips. "I was just in Miami, and the temperature change has killed them."
We hope, for his lips' sake, the KAWS left the party with one of Kiehl's well-stocked gift bags!
