Six years and numerous celebrities later, the accessories line known for its amazing leather handbags is losing "Be."
"It has been an incredible six years with Be & D, but Steve [D] and I have both come to a point professionally where we felt it was time to move on separately," Be Inthavong explained.
Inthavong plans on working in his family's silk business based in Laos and New York, while Dumain will stay on as the sole creative director of the brand.
"What Be [Inthavong] and I created was something special, and while creatively we are moving in different directions, the bond that we share and the success story that we wrote as these 'little guys' among the storied European houses will endure," Dumain reflected.
He sounds like he's already got a leg up on flying solo with a few new retailers picking up the line.
"In addition to our bread and butter clients we've added some incredible new accounts including Dover Street Market, On Pedder and Gente. At the end of the day it's about the product and making sure there is a strong message with a focused voice -- that will never change."
The fashion industrty is littered with many a break-up story from Trovata's surfer-hair foursome and Alice + Olivia founders Stacey Bendet and Rebecca Matchett to Libertine, just to name a few.
Read about a similar sounding bag brand, D&B, as in Dooney & Bourke, and its involuntary separation.
