YSL's New Vintage II Collection - Waste Not!

12/21/2009 11:58AM by Lauren Goodman

Tag it. YSL re-launches eco-friendly collection.

Back in June, designer Stefano Pilati debuted the first YSL New Vintage collection. It was an experiment in high-fashion recycling, and it sold out from Barneys New York in about a week and a half. The cotton drill Downtown bags went in the first day. Just in time for the holidays, the collection has resurfaced at the YSL flagships in New York, Paris and London in the form of the New Vintage II.

What does New Vintage mean anyway?

Using remnant fabric-which would otherwise have to be destroyed-Pilati has recreated his greatest hits from seasons past. We are talking sharp jackets, pleated trousers, romantic blouses, artfully seamed shift dresses. This limited-edition offering consists of 121 pieces and is environmentally-conscious and lower priced than the typical ready-to-wear collection.

What better way to start off 2010 than with an article of feel good fashion?
