Born "Lila Diane Sawyer," the daughter of a Kentucky school teacher and judge, Diane Sawyer would later rise to fame as a television anchor. Here, at age 15, she was already displaying a keen eye for classic style in a cuffed collared button-down and plaid pleated skirt. In the '80s, Sawyer was a huge presence in most Americans' homes, anchoring shows like "60 Minutes" and "Primetime Live" on ABC News. She wasn't afraid to put herself in the spotlight (as evidenced by her electric yellow pantsuit!) and always had impeccably coiffed hair and natural, flattering makeup.

At a Silver Lining Foundation cancer benefit at New York's Waldorf-Astoria, Sawyer wore a bright berry pantsuit and some familiar shoes (the same ones she wore the year before, as seen on the previous slide). Hey, it's New York City. A girl has to hold onto a good pair of shoes!

At the Metropolitan Museum's Costume Institute Gala, Sawyer wore a sparkly gold halter dress with a low-cut back. It's not our favorite cut for the star, but it's certainly an elegant choice.

At the 2004 Vanity Fair Oscar Party, Sawyer looked chic in a square neck black gown. She isn't afraid to show a little skin -- but, a true Southerner, always likes to leave something to the imagination.

At the Glamour Magazine 2005 Women Of the Year Awards, Sawyer showed up in a black and white power pantsuit. The tuxedo-like top with sheer sleeves and white trim was a little bold, but we'll forgive her.

Diane Saywer is a woman whom we can admire. She has been a role model for us women. Intelligent. Honest. Hard working. Beautiful. Very classy. A pleasure to watch her and listen to her reports and interviews such as the recent one with Ahmadinejan . Again, in her new position, she is doing a phantastic job as evening anchor. We are lucky to have her. Congratulations, Diane, and thank you for your outstanding work! You make us women proud. I trust men admire you just as much.
