Plus-Size Model Crystal Renn Rocks V Magazine Size Issue

As we reported last week, the next issue of V magazine will celebrate women of all shapes and all sizes -- including plus-size.

And although the sure-to-be-controversial issue (#63) doesn't hit newsstands until Jan. 14, we got a sneak peek at one of the fashion stories.

Photographer Terry Richardson's story, dubbed 'One Size Fits All,' features plus-size model/author Crystal Renn -- a 5 ft, 9 in. beauty with 36-31-41 measurements -- opposite model-on-the-rise Jacquelyn Jablonski who stands at the same height as Renn, but with more waifish stats: 32-24-34.

Both women, shown in side-by-side images, strike similar poses and don identical and often vibrantly patterned ensembles by the likes of Ralph Lauren, Proenza Schouler and Dolce & Gabbana with bold accessories by Versace, Burberry and Alexis Bittar.

One spread (shown above) features both models wearing the ubiquitous bodysuit and innerwear as outerwear trend, here, in the form of a fully visible bra, both by Dolce & Gabbana.

The point of the spread is apparent -- to show that size doesn't matter and fashion can flatter a multitude of figures. Now, if only all the fashion designers would include plus-sizes in their collections, we'd be getting somewhere.

It's sad that she's considered "plus-sized". To me, she should be considered average, healthy sized as opposed to the skinny, emaciated look so many strive to be. Just shows how distorted our perceptions have become at what "ideal" (beautiful) is.

AMEN!! The "plus size" (translation: NORMAL size!) model looks SO, SO much better! Let's lose the waif-look!

The "real" model looks much much better. But its still important to note that she is thin. She is not stick like sickening like the other "high fashion" model--but she still doesn't adequately represent American women's bodies. Its a start...............

i totally agree. its ridiculous. She looks healthy, and most models are small. i understand the fashion world is difficult and harsh, but i know i would rather look at a "plus sized" model modeling my clothes than her. Its sick. The skinny model looks like shes sick. i feel i can relate more to the "plus size" because its more of a regular body, and thats how it would really look on an average american woman. ridiculous

True dat! the so called plus size model actually has muscles! the other one is a little stick. the left model stops eating to loose weight, the one on the right works her butt off until all she has left is muscles

I agree 100%. At 5'9" with the measurements what size would that make the "plus-sized" model? The smaller model looks sick especially her legs in the second picture. How many times have we read about the drugs and eating disorders the waif models have. Stop sending the wrong message to women. Adolesent and teen girls are very suseptable to this type of advertising.

I agree with you completely! She is normal size. There is no "plus-size" woman with a waist of 31 inches. That is a size 12 in pants. They need to revamp their thinking. And here people wonder why our teenage girls don't want to eat anything and are always worried about how they look. It is the society that are growing up in.

I agree. She is not plus sized in the least. If we live in a society where that first girl is worshipped for being a twig and that second girl is considered plus-sized, the future looks bleak indeed. I think that the women in ancient art, where a voluptuous woman was considered beautiful, were lucky women indeed, because they were not pressured by society to be unhealthily thin like this, nor were they ridiculed if they were not. Being a woman in today's society is hard enough without having to look like this to be considered beautiful.

jeeze! she is not plus sized. that is just stupid to say. skinny girl makes me feel like i can never look good in those clothes and the "plus sized" girl makes me feel like i could actually wear that outfit.

the only girls i ever see that skinny are the ones that dont eat.

showing girls that all sizes can look good in clothes is a great message, but actually show a plus sized girl in them, not a normal sized girl. saying that the girl on the right is plus sized is telling girls that normal is fat.

and showing their sizes is so wrong. girls are going to get out their measuring tapes to see if they are considered plus size also.

we have enough to worry about.

I wouldn't consider their "plus size model" actually plus size, but she looks better in both outfits. The other one looks sickly

I think who they are calling the plus size model wears it better. She actually represents most of the women in this country. Which by the way is not really what you would call plus.

What the hell is Plus Size?Do they mean fat?It is pretty sad when normal size in america is fat,no wonder there is so many fat people in america. And if Plus Size means fat why dont they say Minus Size for those not fat?Its also sad people cant think for themselfs, the meida and washingtion tells you what to say and you do so without question. Thanks P.C.

The "plus" size model looks like a woman. The other model looks loke a little girl. Honestly, if I saw the plus size by itself, I wouldn't even question if she was plus size.

Thank you for saying that!! The "plus size model" isn't even plus size. The stick thin model is undernourished. That's how everyone has been brainwashed. The real plus size models are in the hanes underwear commercial. Size 14 - 16 and up.

Actually, plus-sizes start beyond 14. My mom is a 14 and plus-sized clothing doesn't fit her at all. This model is SO not even nearing a plus-size. The clothes must be sewn/made to fit her because actual plus-sized clothes would not fit her at all. I'm guessing she's a size six. There are no words to describe how messed up it is to call THIS plus-sized.
