Plus-Size Model Crystal Renn Rocks V Magazine Size Issue

As we reported last week, the next issue of V magazine will celebrate women of all shapes and all sizes -- including plus-size.

And although the sure-to-be-controversial issue (#63) doesn't hit newsstands until Jan. 14, we got a sneak peek at one of the fashion stories.

Photographer Terry Richardson's story, dubbed 'One Size Fits All,' features plus-size model/author Crystal Renn -- a 5 ft, 9 in. beauty with 36-31-41 measurements -- opposite model-on-the-rise Jacquelyn Jablonski who stands at the same height as Renn, but with more waifish stats: 32-24-34.

Both women, shown in side-by-side images, strike similar poses and don identical and often vibrantly patterned ensembles by the likes of Ralph Lauren, Proenza Schouler and Dolce & Gabbana with bold accessories by Versace, Burberry and Alexis Bittar.

One spread (shown above) features both models wearing the ubiquitous bodysuit and innerwear as outerwear trend, here, in the form of a fully visible bra, both by Dolce & Gabbana.

The point of the spread is apparent -- to show that size doesn't matter and fashion can flatter a multitude of figures. Now, if only all the fashion designers would include plus-sizes in their collections, we'd be getting somewhere.

"Plus Size" ??? She looks average to me. If this model is considered plus-size, it only reinforces what the media STILL considers the acceptable standard for weight ... which is super-thin.

Funny how they both are displaying a womans natural position when wearing cloths like that.

Women come in all shapes and sizes. Thank Heavens!! What a boring world it would be if we all looked the same. The difference between the two models is this: One starves herself and perhaps smokes and takes drugs to be a very unhealthy looking thin. The other eats regular meals and then works out to be a very healthy looking curvy woman. Yes, I'm one of the curvy ones, but I really kind of like my curves. Curiousely enough, I've found that in Europe, men seem to be more attracted to women with curves then those without. No, this does not mean that women should live their lives to what men dictate, but I do find this an interesting point.

I DON'T SEE A PLUS SIZE MODEL. I SEE SOMEONE WHO IS AVERAGE SIZE.
IN THE 60'S I WAS A SIZE 18 WHICH WAS CONSIDERED A PLUS SIZE. I LOST ENOUGH WEIGHT TO BE A SIZE 12 AT THAT TIME IT WAS CONSIDERED A NORMAL SIZE. THE WAY WE LOOK AT PEOPLE SURE HAS CHANGED.

UHHH!!!!!!!!! What the hell! She is THIN! Are we suppose to starve are selves to look like a walking stick! So the mentally ill men think we look good. Any man who thinks she is heavy should be weighed themselves. I think we women should have a rule for men if your over 100 pounds your fat and we won't want you.

How on earth is she considered pluse size? She isn't above a size 12! You dont see plus size when shopping in the same store this women would shop at. I mean real plus size stores dont even start their sizes til at least a size 14!

Crystal looks SO much better. Not that I prefer "large" women, I do not. She's got great shape, tone, and sex appeal. She looks MUCH healthier, and odds are she could whip the crap out of most of us, certainly the waif next to her, either in the gym or on the track. In general, she looks healthier, less vulnerable and less fragile. Which gal would you rather go to dinner with? Depends on whether you are trying to save money or enjoy, converse over, and appreciate good food. I insist on the latter for my $$. Give me a package of sustainable health, and Ms. Renn would fit nicely within it.

I truly do NOT understand why the same clothes that are made for the smaller sizes can not be made for the plus size women. We would purchase them!

I agree with all of you who recognized this model as average size, not plus size. It would be wonderful is actual plus size models could be included, celebrating beauty and health in all shapes and sizes! Deborah Kauffmann, registered dietitian www.edcbaltimore.org

Both the models look equally good in their outfits. BUT I find it truly awful that both this article and AOL users need to put down the smaller model as "waifish" or looking like a little girl. I always associate little girls with having straight waists and flat chests but rather stout bodies and shorter legs. The skinny model looks every bit as womanly as the "plus-sized" model. This article is meant to show how they look EQUALLY good, not to make either look better. if you support the "plus-sized" model, then you better love the slim one too. I know I do. I measure about the same as the "plus-size" one by the way, and I know she wouldn't be plus-sized in the real world. She'd be a size 12 at the very most.
