Along with his Ed Hardy tees and trucker hats, Christian Audigier is known best for his celeb collaborations from the late Michael Jackson, Britney Spears to gossip fodder Jon Gosselin.

But when it comes to his own personal style, the tattoo-happy French designer is a prepster.

Asked by Independent UK who his style icon was, Audigier answered, "Without doubt, Ralph Lauren – he has the most amazing style, which will never go out of fashion."

Well, we suppose if you take the Ed Hardy out of Ed Hardy-- think swirling tattoo-inspired dragon, barbed wire and rose graphics on bright pink and teal t-shirts and sweats-- you've got your, er, basic Ralph Lauren jeans and tee look.

Audigier doesn't stop with the RL love describing his best outfit to the news site: "I would have to say one of my suits. Could even be a Ralph Lauren. Every man must own a great-fitting suit."

As for the contents of the style arbiter's manbag? "My Blackberry, some paper for sketches, my pen and some magazines."

The designer stays true to his trade though. Audigier's guilty pleasure isn't chocolate or say, a spa treatment. "I love it when I see Madonna wearing my clothes," he tells the Independent.

If it's the Material Girl's endorsement he's after, Audigier may have to fend off the boys at Dolce & Gabbana. Madonna has been rocking the Italian duo's sexy looks since landing the ad campaign.
