LAPD Paramedics were summoned to her Los Angeles home after a neighbor spotted Johnson's maid coming out of her home screaming, "She's dead!," E! News reported.
The troubled party girl/socialite most recently made headlines when she and girlfriend Tila Tequila announced their engagement.
Tequila, who told TMZ she and Johnson had been fighting and that she had left the house on Dec. 28, Tweeted early Monday evening, "Everyone please pray 4 my Wifey Casey Johnson. She has passed away. Thank u for all ur love and support but I will be offline to be w family."
Tequila later tweeted that Johnson was actually alive and in a coma around 9:30 pm on Monday night. "I just got news that my fiance is not dead but currently in a coma!!! Omg please pray that she will make it! Hang in there my love please!!!"
Three minutes later, she continued: "I know u can feel me Casey! Dot let go! I'm almost home baby please hang on! We have a beautiful life planned out for us! I LOVE u! Hang on!"
However, at 10:09 pm ET, Tequila conceded Johnson was dead; "R.I.P my Angel. @caseyjonsonJnJ u will forever be in my heart! I love u so so much and we will Marry when I see U in Heaven my Wifey."
And she continued to share her grief through the night. "I can't stop these haunting visions of her and I. We made such a lovely couple, only beginning to spend the rest of our lives together..." Tequila posted.
Johnson, who was diabetic, had a history of drug problems and had been through rehab several times. Her feuds with family members Elizabeth "Libet" Johnson, over a former boyfriend, and her divorced parents Robert "Woody" Johnson (owner of the New York Jets) and Sale Johnson, who recently cut off her trust fund when she wouldn't go back into rehab, have been tabloid fodder for years.
Aside from her engagement to Tequila, Casey was most recently in the press for her arrest on grand theft charges, allegedly for stealing from ex-girlfriend/model Jasmine Lennard.
Johnson is survived by her daughter Ava, whom she adopted from Kazakhstan two years ago. Her mother is currently caring for the toddler and the NY Post reported Monday that Tequila and Casey were going to meet up in New York to reclaim the little girl.
"The Johnson family is mourning its tragic loss and asks for privacy during this very difficult time," a Johnson & Johnson spokesman said.
